I bought it from the link given in this thread.

Just an update: Finally got it to work.

I'm going to throw some of these things out there because they were not mentioned or brought up, or they are scattered everywhere.

REQUIREMENTS

Windows XP, 32bit - You cannot use windows 7/8 or any other operating system to run Techstream. MUST be 32bit, cannot use 64 bit.

If you have Windows 7, Mac, ETC, you will need to run a virtual machine. This is basically a "window" that runs windows XP inside of it.

For windows users you can use Windows VirtualPC. *NOTE - if you have Windows 7 Home premium edition, you cannot use this unless you follow a few steps and watch a YouTube video on how to get it to work. The audio is real low and the kid is like 8 but the directions are spot on, I followed them and it works.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87Ox32YIXqc"]How to install Windows XP Mode on Windows 7 Home Premium - YouTube[/ame]

You can also use VirtualBox which is free. You must download the extension pack to make sure USB works. (https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads)

If using VirtualBox, you either need to use USB port 1.1 or USB 2.0. USB 3.0 is not supported, and this was my issue as I didn't realize my USB port was 3.0 LOL. If using USB 2.0, you have to make sure you enable it under USB in the settings in virtualbox. Then you must make a blank filter to pass through the cable when connecting.

IMPORTANT - if you are getting the "this device is busy..." window when trying to connect your USB device through virtualbox, the issue is your host computer is seeing the USB device before the Guest window (windows xp). You need to go into Devices and Printers settings on your host computer, find the MVCI cable, right click it and go into properties, and UNINSTALL the driver. Once you do, unplug the cable, then simply just plug it back in (make sure your guest Windows XP is up and running) and you should see the device pop up under the guest window and say connected. You should not have to go to "devices - USB - MVCI" to connect from the dropdown, it should do it automatically.

You can get the most up to date Techstream software from here (stickied at the top, you have to register) http://www.auto-professionals.co.uk/...lay.php?fid=38

Up to date MVCI Drivers (mongoose) - https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=75C93...49501E9A%21141

You also have to install all files on the guest machine (into windows XP).

If I remember anything else I'll add it here. I did a lot of digging around for things so I figured I might help out others who may run into these same problems I did.

I did all of this to try to fix my DRL but investigating it with Techstream I still can't fix it, so I am guessing I need to go in and get some kind of flash or update to my BIM module

good looking out man. this will probably help a bunch of people.

what's wrong with your DRLs? there is a tsb for a replacement ECU because it doesn't disable the DRLs correctly...

Thanks man.

I replaced the bulb in my driver side courtesy light, and something happened and that light wouldn't light up correctly anymore. I brought it to the dealer and the BIM module apparently went bad.

Ever since they replaced that, my DRL only come on when my high beams are on.
Another member had the same issue and said the dealer had to reprogram something, and I was hoping to be able to get into it through techstream (at least from our user point of view). Seems like a dealer visit is inevitable.

I toggled the DRL's on/off fine in techstream, so its not that. They worked fine before they replaced the BIM.

My copy runs fine on windows 7, no issues at all. I use an openport 2.0 cable.

what version? You are also using a different cable which could be the reason.

Actually thinking about it I had originally opened up techstream on my host computer but I didn't have the driver yet or cable. I should retry it.

I suspect it is an issue with the driver for your cable.. I'm using the tactrix driver for my cable. I did also have to run the TISKEY.exe but i did not have to install the mvci driver i don't think.

what settings has everyone changed?

I changed the stupid long button press for the boot.

Seat chimes.

I couldn't find anything to make it so the lights stay on when car is off for a period of time... Anyone able to tell me which version of techstream i need for this option?

So are the ones from China the best/only ones to get? How long did it take to get ones ordered from China?

The best would be to get the official "Mongoose" cable from Drewtech, followed I'm guessing by Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 adapter, then the Chineese cable that most of us have.

They also follow at order from most to least expensive. I haven't tried the Tactrix adapter but I assume its better then my Chineese cable which is flaky at best from my personal experience.

I'm sure those are better but I'm not looking to spend $300 for a cable that I don't plan on using for to much(not like I used my RossTech VAGCOM cable) so the $27-$30 cable with software is more appealing. Just looking to see which to order from Ebay.
