I have 3 kids, 5, 3 and 8 months. I don't drive them in the brz a lot, but occasionally I pick my 5 and 3 year old up from pre school or take the two to the store. Their carseats are forward facing, and they are on the small side, so they fit just fine in the back. The only problem I have is that I have to open the door all the way to get them in and out, which sometimes seem impossible depending on where you park and how people park next to you. I did have the pleasure to take my 5 year old and the 8 month old once in the brz last week. The 8 month old is in a backward facing convertible, getting her in and out of the car means me climbing into the backseat myself, and the haul her in and out of the seat like a package, it wasn't fun at all. Its times like this that make me wonder if I should have bought the wrx, but I don't regret buying the brz at all, because 99% of the time, it's perfect.

Great stuff here, am looking to switch out my old VW passat with an FR-S sometime soon and have a 3yr old and 7yr old (on the small side). I'm 5'8" and we figured it will be tight but we will manage. It helps that the other car ('the beast') is a mini-van I figured an Accord would be more practical but heck, you only live once... and thankfully the wife is on board

Hmmm.......we have raised 3 kids and are enjoying 3 grandkids.

This was our "practical" evolution of vehicles ....1948 Chev Coupe > VW Bug > MGB-GT > 4-door sedan > station wagon > minivan > full sized van > 4 door sedan > MX-5 (Miata) > FR-S.

We found that if you don't give kids "space" in a vehicle, they are like racoons cornered in a cage .... iffen ya get ma drift ....

Humfrs LOL. I know what you mean. Well I went ahead and got my frs anyway it's been a week so far so time will tell, but having a minivan as car#2 sure is gonna help though.

2 grand kids here.. 8 and 4..
I scoot the front seat up and stick the little guy in the back behind the passenger.. Works ok.. No room behind my seat for passengers..
I'm just glad I don't have to mess with the child seat and the latch system in the rear seat.. It's not the best car for toting around kids... But it works ok for me on an occasional basis..

Never had to deal with carseats or boosters in my BRZ (my kids are 9 & 10 now), but I did in my Mini and Mustangs over the last 7 years or so which have similar leg and back seat room, and we managed just fine (always had at least one other 4-door car) for the once or twice a week I had to haul them somewhere. Never did any terribly long trips in one of the legroom/back seat room challenged cars, 6 or 8 hours was the max. When given a choice, my son usually asks to go somewhere in the BRZ (but my daughter picks the Mustang). FWIW I'm 6' and my wife is 5' tall.

I have a 2 1/2 yr and almost 4 yr old and I have 2 full size car seats in my BRZ without any issues. I'm 5'7" so my seat is never all the way back and my kids have enough leg room. I have a SUV as well for the primary family vehicle but the BRZ is my kids preferred choice when taking my daughter to preschool and going on short trips around town. If you are tall and need the seat all the way back to be comfortable I could see it being difficult having kids in car seats in the car though.

My 2 year old fits fine behind the passenger seat. He's a big 2 year old too and I don't have the smallest of car seats ... Recaro convertible one that goes up to 75lbs.

My wife is thankfully short (5') so it works out perfectly. I'm 6'1" and there isn't any room behind me XD

We recently packed the trunk with all the little guy's stuff to take him to a sleep over at his grandparents'. I was quite surprised at what all we fit. I think it's plenty comfortable for a weekend trip.

I'm 5'7 and can fit both my nieces(7, and 11) with my nephew in the front (13) in the car without a hitch, on the other hand when I first got the car I took my friends for a ride they range from 5'11-6'3 and it was like a clown car.

I fit my two boys, one 1 year 8 months and the other 7 months, with a few compromises.

Here's my breakdown

Rear-facing baby seat = Place behind passenger seat. Will leave NO leg room for people up front.

Forward-facing = no issues.

Booster-seat w/ back support = My son constantly kicking my seat back. I am waiting patiently for him to grow a bit older and understand why not to do that!

Booster-seat, no back support = No issues.

I think I will start to have issues, as already stated, once they are teenagers.

Hopefully, by then, they will be mature enough to sit up front and DRIVE the car

This is currently my ONLY car for my wife, and 2 kids, (getting highlander soon!) but it's a very comfortable car, as tight as it may be!
