It's ok I didn't want to talk to Dan that badly anyways.
That is hilarious! And, unfortunately, pretty spot on....

I'm waiting for my free sirius to run out before I consider aftermarket. of course I'll want a similar sized screen and nav, I usually just set a sirius station like channel 52 and cruise, set the screen to display a map. Comes in hand on twisties, I look down in straights and know what to expect, its like forza in real life!

I don't touch the radio much while driving so I only care if it works.

That being said, the touchscreen in my 2010 Golf worked better and was easier to use.

The Golf had steering wheel controls too, I hated them and wished there was a way to temporarily disable them. There were just too many times while driving on good twisty roads where I would accidentally change the station, the volume or both.

LMAO. Last night I tried calling my Dad and the BRZ asked me if I wanted to call Dan. Same freaking problem

Can that SD card slot be used as an extra memory slot? As in, will the headunit use it as RAM? Reason I ask - it takes 20 fucking minutes to get to Artist "S" vs Artist "A" when using an iPod.
sdemo, i feel your pain. When I navigate through my iPod searching for an artist it takes FOREVER to get to the artist you want to listen to. Unless that artist starts with an "A" of course. And then if someone calls you after you navigated to (for instance) artist "S" then it fucking backs you out to the main display screen and you have to start all over again

Somebody please tell me there is some way around this. I've already looked in the manual but am going to look again. This CANNOT be the only way to navigate through my iPod. It's infuriating and is also very unsafe to do while driving.

Any advice?

The head unit should be half the size and twice as good. Who's with me?

Agreed. I don't care about a touchscreen. I just want a few buttons. Also speakers that don't rattle and vibrate the doors all the time would be nice too.

Some suggestions:
1. Pronounce "dad" by emphasizing the second 'D'. As in:daD.
2. Change "dad" to "father".
3. Just in case you may be a Catholic, change 'father' to "priest".
4. For "dan", change to danL
5. Sorry, I don't have an Ipod.

I don't really want a smaller touchscreen display, but I will settle for twice as good

I find it easier to just use the touchscreen on my iPhone to select the artist and song I want and bypass the head unit while I am streaming.

One CAN use voice commands: 'TRACK UP' and 'TRACK DOWN'.
Yes, one still has to press a button but, the more one uses voice commands the easier it gets.

I want a really button with a tactile feel that will work without me looking at the screen. Voice recognition is just going to piss me off especially if I'm just flipping through tracks trying to find one I like.

Seriously? Have you had the dealer perform the TSB for the GPS?
