IF you haven't noticed ....I was being facetious.

IF you really want to break it down to facts....My nexus 7 sticks out far enough to where I can rest my right hand on my shift knob and toggle songs as i please with little to No effort. Here is a picture for you:

On the Picture: my hand rests easily while shift knob (in neutral) is just enough clearance to reach my 7.

Besides, your comparing LFA to a BRZ...???

don't me wrong.....I agree to the fact that it SHOULD have steering buttons. I was hoping it would come as stock features since the genesis/ rx8 from earlier years had them. oh well.

Thanks for the info, that helped a ton. I dislike my radio 5% less now.

Fair point but a good UI design shouldn't need a manual. It should be intuitive. This is a device that Subaru expects users to interface with while driving and the UI is far more complex than necessary.

At least my display is now blank. That's a start.

It's not bad and sounds reasonably good. I really don't know why the most common threads have nothing but unreasonable, nit-picky, or mega negative topics. It's a nice comfortable, fun, gas sipping corner carver. It does its designed function perfectly. If there is something you really can't live without you need to hit the aftermarket, that's what's it's there for. Someone will gladly take your money for something made in China.
Have a wonderful night/morning.

Let's face it boys and girls, the BRZ isn't a Ford F150, Chevy Silverado, Cadillac Escalade or a Dodge Ram. Now THEY have lotsa big knobs and dials AND the real estate to do it in.

The instrument panel is probably the most densely integrated component in a vehicle and there is not a lot of room available in the BRZ instrument panel. Design compromises must be made. Sure, there may be more friendly Head Units in other cars of the same size but every car is different. Cost is always a factor as well.

SO, if you want a bigger display, more buttons and dials or controls on the steering, then pony up your hard-earned doleros and get THAT car. OR:
Stop whining and GET OVER IT! It's not going to be as nice as your daddies car when you took your favorite bimbette to the high school prom.

You're right... except I want what I have to work properly.

My mother purchased a 2014 forester xt and she has the same head unit. Hers is lightning fast compared to mine. That's not cool. Man.

Can that SD card slot be used as an extra memory slot? As in, will the headunit use it as RAM? Reason I ask - it takes 20 fucking minutes to get to Artist "S" vs Artist "A" when using an iPod.

No, the head unit SD card slot isn't for expandable memory unfortunately. Try loading your tunes on a usb drive though.

^ While that's certainly a possibility, it shouldn't be a requirement. My old Kenwood double din from 2007 loads iPod music instantly... this shouldn't be an issue in 2013.
