BRZs are more scarce than FRSs and plus they have a higher value overall. I REALLY doubt you'll find a BRZ for under the FRS price unless there are mark ups on the FRS. BRZ doesn't go much lower than $28k~ at least from what I've seen and FRS gets up to around $27k at highest without markup

That is because you are still looking at LA area market only. Also, you can now get BRZ less than MSRP in CA if you are shopping around.

You can get a good deal on an automatic, they are depreciating faster than manuals. The cheapest FR-S on Cars.com are going for $19.9k in NJ both of which are automatics.

BRZ limited $750 below MSRP. Pretty sure can haggle more to $1000.
Don't go to Puente Hills Subaru.

I don't care about resell value as I'm the only owner my car is going to have.

That's crazy I have heard of the loss most of these people are taking and it is crazy to think that dealerships expect to turn a $10k profit on a $30k that's a year old with over 9,000 miles on it. These used should be around $20k tops sense most are getting around $17k for an fr-s and $19k for a BRZ on their trade in.

Subaru's typically have a slightly higher resale value than Toyota's.

if you could live up with frs interior, then 2k upgrade to a brz is too much for ya. To convert from a FRS to BRZ limited trim level aint cheap. just saying.

oh yeah i know that lol but someone mentioned that BRZ's that they found go for less than an FRS. If i had to pick one, it's BRZ all the way, get so much more for just 2k more.

they're both japanese economy cars, they'll be good and cheap in a few years. any difference in resale value now will become less significant over time as the market is saturated with both models. eventually they'll be like v6 auto mustangs, selling like hotcakes and within eyesight at any corner.

any kind of cars will depreciate unless you are investing your money on properties. When I buy this car, I'm expecting it to last 10 years before my next sport car.

I actually got my brz for almost the same FRS cost, but the shipping and dealer's fee killed it.
