As some have said, Ethanol seems to aggravate the noise. I have not seen anyone running E-85 complaining about pump noise, or have they? Has anyone with the savvy to do so taken one of these noisy pumps apart?

I have 450 miles on the green dot HPFP on my BRZ. The crickets haven't returned. The weather has been cool, but I would have expected crickets with the old pump. I'm hopeful this pump will stay quite. If the crickets come back I guess I will have to go back to ethanol free gas.

So I got the cricket sound checked out at 300 miles, they replaced the fuel pump. now at 5000 miles it comes up again and they say it's "normal" to have that sound! It went away when they replaced it and now the sound is back again. seems im getting the run around.

Tell them you're going to file for lemon law protection if they don't fix it. That'll straighten them out quick. Look up the laws in your state.

Idk how it varies by state but basically in Florida, if you have to take the car in for the same problem repeatedly you can get a brand new car if you play your cards right.

Not saying you WANT a new car, but if you threaten them it raises the stakes for them to take care of it.

Also I just heard crickets for the first time yesterday at around 500 miles in. Will be waging war on the dealership soon. how do I know if the fuel pump they replace mine with is the right one? Any way to know for sure?

I have the crickets, and a very late build date. It doesn't really bother me but I worry about a potential post-warranty-period failure.

Instead of ugly-ass bodywork and fart-cans, somebody make a fuel pump.

I've been running Ethanol free for about 3k miles and still no chirps.

I've been running ethanol free for a while now without any issues. Prior to finding this resolution I had gone through three HPFP replacements, all (obviously) with the same result.

To prove my point that ethanol free fuel resolves the noise I put standard ethanol-enriched fuel in to make the chirping come back, and took it to the dealer. They replaced the pump (the third and latest replacement I mentioned above). The chirping was still there, so I drove down that tank of gas until the low fuel light had been on, then filled it up with ethanol free. Almost immediately the chirping sound had been lessened due to diluting, and after that fuel had been burned out there was no more chirp.

I understand that ethanol-free fuel is not readily available to some people so it isn't a feasible solution, but after moving to it I have had zero issues. It costs a little bit more per gallon, but it is worth it to me.

Same here. Had chirps for the first 2500 miles, switched to ethanol free and they have been gone the last 1500 miles. Sucks that it is a problem and sucks that a lot of people can't get away from ethanol.

I'd love to actually see how this car runs on 93 octane ethanol free gas.

PPL its a just a lil noise put a cat back and u wont hear it or if its important to u other ppl wont hear it. any high reving high performance motor makes sounds. Ima go with the flow and run it to the ground. I hit cut off everyday in 45 degree C weather in Saudi Arabia and no problems at all. I track it every weekend aswell, im trying to brake this B and its not happening. so take it as normal and if u dont like it sell the car or put a lexus motor. Hopefully when I blow my motor and toyota wont help ill drop a 6cyl lexus in there

I have a vid of my motor sound 8000 kilometers but I made it for my home made air intake, I made this CAI in an hour still working on fabricating a box for it. and I beat on my car as I pulled out of toyota, my philosophy is if its gona brake let it happen soon and if it dosent thats great. Temp in Saudi is 45 C now
