I'm a pretty hardcore gamer and I like all those features. I like gestures and voice commands (one less button combo to worry about). Skype is so-so, but would be cool to use when in co-op with a friend. Cable box integration is cool and I watch a lot of TV. When combined with gestures and voice commands: "XBOX, play Speed Channel," it saves me the trouble fiddling through the guide and remembering that HD Speed is channel 793, or that F1 is now on NBC Sports Network, channel 741.

I've said this a number of times, but complaining about the EXTRA stuff X1 can do would be like complaining about all the extra stuff your smart phone can do. And how those old Nokia bricks were the best because they catered to the REAL hardcore phone users. I especially don't understand it after the STELLAR games showed off for X1 at E3. Some really great stuff and great exclusives, including fresh new IPs.

Well some hardcore gamers care for those stuff but it's obvious that the majority doesn't. A poll on IGN of 30,000 people voted a landslide victory to the PS4. 84% of 30,000 people could care less about voice commands and having two cable boxes. Also all the things you mention sounds like the debate between manual and automatics where you can be more lazy at doing things you already do. I never felt it was a pain in the ass to turn on my XBOX without voice commands and having a extra cable box I can talk to. It ain't JARVIS from Iron Man neither...lol

I am also not against them for changing there decision either. I'm just arguing against anyone thinking it was right for them to propose these forced restrictions on the consumer. Let us have the freedom of choice is all people was asking for. Some obviously don't care for that freedom.

I was one of the first people in the US to have a PS2. We, the website I worked for, had a diplomat sneak one out of Japan in a diplomatic pouch when he flew it to us in the US. No BS. That being said, I don't give a flying shit about the PS4 or XBOX 361 or whatever the hell this crap is. PC gaming is real gaming. My phone and web browser are for silly little gaming. Meanwhile, my Wii and two PS3s gather dust at my house. Not intersted in using a crappy controller while looking at crappy graphics on a slow system playing a game purposefully designed for the lowest common denominator. I play most games at 2560x1440 using these amazing tools, a keyboard and mouse!

You play racing games and action/adventure platformers with a keyboard and mouse? If so, more power to you, but I can't do it. Batman, DMC, Grid, etc.. I love the PC as well, but I have a spare 360 controller that stays attached to it for a lot of games now. IMO Xbox controller integration into the PC gaming market is one of the better things that has happened for PC gaming.

That poll also came out during the flurry of "I hate Microsoft" memes floating around the internet and news outlets. I'm guessing most of that has to do with the DRM and less about flashy new features. :P

And I don't know how your cable box is now, but Time Warner's Scientific Atlanta box is slugish and slow. Searching for things is tiresome and a pain and most of the things don't even show up properly. If I'm trying to find out what channel something is on, it's often quicker and easier to jump onto my computer and search google than use their horrendous interface. There's lag in the input remote (often half a second to a second) when typing anything, and searches often come up empty, even if what I want is in their database that I can scroll to and find manually searching day by day, channel by channel.

That's definitely NOT like driving a manual vs automatic!

I've met enough people who actually think that! Wouldn't be surprised if it was not sarcastic.

And his Major Neslon comment probably was more along the lines of "You can't just turn off DRM (without losing half the things we announced at the unveil event)". He also further repeats the incorrect info that you couldn't lend, rent, or sell used games. Classy. Also has this weird notion that somehow the old policies gave them more money? Took more money from you? I was lost with his logic. If you like the status quo, I guess you like how devs are recouping costs by selling you a $60 game followed by three or four $15 DLC packs. Maybe the whimsy of old would hold more value if games didn't cost more than 20 million dollars to make. And as much as 100 million for big name AAA titles.

Other than that, I guess he's happy that this has been pushed off till the next generation, where digital formats will be king and discs may be long gone.

Maybe I should complain how useless my phone is when I don't have a network signal.
