FRS depreciates faster than BRZ?

I've noticed A LOT of FRS with less than 5k miles go for under $22k all over the place.
My local BMW dealer had one for $21,500 with only 6k miles on it.
I've noticed that BRZs remain around $26k except for a few rare ones.

I've also heard of people buying brand new BRZs for less than Scion's "pure" pricing so it sounds like based on how the Subarus hold their value they are simply a better buy EVEN if you end up paying $1k more.

Subarus have always been good at holding their value but not Scions.
thoughts?

Looking on Cars.com, there are 143 FR-S under 10k miles, priced between $22k and $32k. Two-thirds of them are listed over $24k, roughly. There are also 43 BRZ between $24k and $31k. Two-thirds of them are listed over $26.5k, roughly.

So I think your FR-S estimated prices are a little low.

There are more scions made than subies.. As per toyotas say so..
Not surprising to see more FRS's available up for sale..

Don't forget the absurd markups and "options" some of the Subaru dealers are charging, initial buyers are still probably hurting from that and are trying to recoup that loss.

The subies cost more to begin with, so to say that the FRS depreciates faster wouldn't really make sense, ya'know?

Simple explanation is supply vs demand. Used BRZs are more difficult to come by, relative to the FRS, because of the supply ratio that Subaru & Toyota agreed upon. Couple the lower supply of BRZ with more "bells & whistles" available on the car, usually means dealers will justify asking for more for the car. There is one thing in pricing between a used BRZ and FRS, price can be negotiable so for those looking to haggle or want the satisfaction of jousting with a dealer on OTD price, happy shopping!

Lots of factors. They've sold more, the "perception" of FR-S being the one people are going to mod, the insurance rates, people trying to price at a rate where buying used makes sense (there aren't many used BRZs around let alone many new ones.

If you're worried about depreciation this soon you probably shouldn't have bought a new car.

and probably look at something like corolla, camry or accord.
I never look at resale value when buying this car.

It just seems to me that if you're considering what you can sell a car for less than a year after it's been released, you're not in the best financial situation to be spending money on a new car. That's just poor finance management and bad decision making.

(Which I think is why so many are for sale – impulse buyers that couldn't afford it in the first place, or repossessions)

or they are simply rich. I'm jealous, but I still think that is pretty absurd.

There's a local dealer that has a FR-S with 9,500 miles and he's asking more than I paid for mine new. I haven't seen a used BRZ for sale.

When I purchased my BRZ from my local Subaru dealer they had 2 used Fr-S's on the lot (red one, black one). One had 8k miles I think and the other had 4k miles. I asked me salesman why they were traded in he told me both were traded in for BRZ Limited's and that the owners wanted more options.

Smart? No. I am guessing the owners easily lost $3-4K when you factor in taxes, tags, etc. I would not have done it.
