B16b reverse rotation RWD Escort.

I would love to be able to afford to do a reverse rotation B swap into a Datsun Roadster. Is it justifiable? No.

This thread reminded me of a Merlin V12 powered 55 Chevy clip I once saw so dug it up for inclusion for some giggles.

Quite the pioneering spirit you have there...

Wait, what? I think you missed the point...on a lot of things.

351 Windsor, T5 Transmission and 8" mustang LSD in a 2001 ZX3 Focus.

I almost wanted to do that same swap myself... would have been sooo much fun.

Its not ridiculous. Its actually brilliant.

I don't get the swaps.

For me swapping must make sense or have a certain purpose but random swaps just for doing it... I can get the fun some might have, but it never really is that fun, it can be very frustrating.

Swaps that make sense to me:

- Lotus Elise/Exige with Honda F20C/F22C
- BMW 1M E82 with BMW S65
- BMW Z4 E89 with BMW S65
- BMW 3 Series with BMW S62
- BMW M3 E46 with BMW P60
- Subaru BRZ/Toyota GT86 with EJ20/EJ22/EJ25 (until new WRX with new FA engine)
- Honda NSX with Mugen MF408S (longitudinally mounted)
- Porsche 987/981 with 997/991 GT3 engine

I wouldn't swap any engine any how. Weight distribution is an important thing. It is not only about more power/torque, handling must not be affected IMO. But if it is only for drag-racing, a GT-R will do it fine.

It would spin the right way if you also installed it upside down but that would be a disaster having the oil pan on the top of the engine constantly draining into the crankcase.
Not sure if serious...

I wasn't seriously suggesting to install it upside down, but if you do install it upside down then it'll reverse the rotation of the wheels compared to the body.

It's easy (and possibly common) to do it with live axles. Not so probable with a full transmission.

To picture it, spin the wheels on a toy car in one direction, then turn the car upside down and notice which way the wheels are spinning.

I fully realize running an engine upside down wouldn't work in the slightest.
