Confusing Engine Swaps thread....
 

Ok I got a notice on facebook the other day that got me thinking of all the confusing engine swaps I have seen out there.
Whether the cost makes no sense or the function of the swap makes no sense post them up.

I dont have pics yet but the swap that got me thinking was a local guy putting an Ls into an Evo9. I will see if I can get pics.

Kinda ironic, tons of engine choices to put into an Evo9, wouldn't do an LS for that car. Wonder if an I6 would work?

Yup, I've seen a Suzuki G10 into a NA Miata, v6 into a Ford Focus, v8 into 240sx, F20C into an AE86, and some more I'm forgetting.

The one I'm watching lately is an SR20DET into an RX-8.

I've done and still currently own a V6 turbo 2003 protégé.

i helped do a svt 24v into a zx2... it made sense as it was cheap power.

the ls into an evo is going to cost a fortune, not to mention the mess that its going to look like when its done.

iv seen a sr20det into a FC rx7


I think the most confusing swap iv seen was a honda D16 with vtec heads on a VW rabbit.

I keep forgetting that people here know what a ZX2 and ZX3 is. Heh. The v6 swap into a Focus was an SVT out of a Contour into a ZX3.

That's not too hard to believe actually. I keep hoping someone puts a MS3 engine or even a turbocharged MX-5 engine into an RX7 or RX8. But apparently Mazda doesn't have the best reputation with Piston engines either. :bellyroll:

there are a bunch of vw kids swapping k series motors into rabbits and caddys. i just dont get it, its expensive and produces no benefit as most of the cars are just hammered low cruisers.

Those low cruisers go, don't think just because their low doesn't mean they don't abuse the throttle.

i have been involved in the mk1 vw scene for awhile as i am building a track rabbit for the last few years. its all about being low, and looks now. the rust out the cars so they look like buckets then try to "out different" each other by doing something rediculous.

friend is just done with a 1jzgte in a bmw z3 :)

Turbo BMWs are fun.

Still want that V12 Z3...
