I wonder what the previous TSB's were which this has replaced? Shimming out CPS is not a new activity to those running aftermarket management on some engines. Unusual to see it on a production engine though, but it is what it is (apparently!).

I just read 11-130-13R TSB and VIN# starting @ D*607924.
so if VIN# is after 607924, vehicle doesn't need to perform this TSB? only applies to VIN# before 607924 ?? I am also wondering this TSB can be performed even though there is no problem on DI. hope som people provide us update after TSB is serviced |

As far as VIN ranges go, cars outside of the VIN range have had the fix applied to production BUT numbers CLOSE to the production fix starting VIN range MAY not have had the fix due to changes on the line. |

For those of you having confirmed injector issues: Did you have a sound that resembled a ball hitting one of these beach boom racquets before the fireworks sounds started?
Two days ago, I heard a faint booming noise when lifting completely off of the throttle above 3000 rpm in 3rd through 6th gear. I can repeat the sound by lifting pretty much at will. Sometimes it was faint, sometimes slightly louder, but very repeatable. Not suspension or other component related IMHO since I can't replicate it by shifting weight with the brakes, turning, or acceleration, only by lifting off the throttle at ~3000 rpm and up. The sound generator tube has been removed and capped on the intake side, but not the firewall side yet, so the sound could be easily heard through that hole while driving. Replacing the noise tube setup and bringing the car into the dealer tomorrow. I'm a very early BRZ, production number 1326 and I have 16XXX miles. |

Depends on what you mean by "fix" if the seals are already damaged flashing the ECU will prolong the process but they will cause damage eventually.
ECU reflash could prevent the seals from being damaged in the first place making this issue go away. |

All of this is an assumption from a TSB in Africa that a flash will fix it. Or does it just slow down the process? Are the seals incorrectly installed from the factory on some cars which make them more prone to failure? Poor installation? Defective injectors or stratified flow causing cylinders to overheat and melt down the seals?
Too many variables, and since we dont see anyone pulling their own injectors for inspection we have no data to really compare. All we have is a hand full of people with actual information. 6 or 7 tops?

Seriously those of us with the affected VINs are better off running the piss out of this engine and blow it up before 60k than expect a yocal mechanic to decipher this mess of a TSB. For Scion dealerships who have little knowledge of an H-4 the situation is even more difficult. The dealers really got shafted here, hopefully Toyota/Scion will do the right thing and replace the cylinder head rather than jerry rigging a shim.

I'm not really sure why a VVT related TSB is being posted in a fuel injector thread.
