Done it before. Not that big of a deal. Been in the tuning car world for 18 years. Stretched them on my Audi TT, my S13 and I would have done it on my S14 if I would have had the money at the time.
I am surprised this is such a big deal for you. You have an S14 in your avatar. With stretched tires. It isn't like this is something new or unique. It was being done long before people started this internet trend of "this tire is BETTER for stretching than that tire". I am pretty sure there hasn't been a tire manufacturer yet that has made a tire to stretch better.
I do wonder where this econo tire crap came from. They aren't Prius tires. They are an OPTION on the Prius. They are just a tire that is sold to the general public. A tire that is used on the Audi a6 and similar cars.
Again I don't care what your opinion is and I have nothing better to do but keep going round and round and round with you about it. Cause again...I DON'T CARE what your opinion is.
And there are quite a few topics on here where other people have done the exact same thing. I have yet to see the thread that "I blew my stock tires cause of stress".

I have the stock Michelins tires on a 8.25 width wheel and it doesn't look too much stretch at all. our Michelins has those rim protector hip that makes the tires look super stretch, but I had 195 mounted on the same wheel on my other car, dd it for a while with no problem at all.

Tire manufacturers have engineers who determine which wheel widths each tire size and model can be mounted on safely. They publish these specs for the approved range of rim widths, and you can find them on the websites for the tire manufacturers as well as for tire retailers like the Tire Rack. When you mount tires on wheels that are wider than approved by the tire manufacturer, stress and heat can build up in the tire sidewall, which can lead to the failure of the tire.

Yep fully aware of the engineers. Pretty sure you won't find one that recommends stretching a 215 onto a 9. But it is done all the time. Even 205's on a 9. Anyone who stretches their tires knows full well it isn't "recommended".
You want nice safe sidewalls on your car go for it. Your tastes differ from mine. The op wanted photos and tire set ups. Not everyone trying to tell him what he wants to do is wrong. It is his choice as to what he thinks will work best for his scenario. I told him what I was gonna do.
Op I understand your logic.
I will have pictures for you in a few days. Unless I blow my tires out from the massive amount of stress I will be putting on them.

When race teams start mounting stretched tires, I'll possibly consider it a performance modification. Until then, I'll leave the 'look' for the mid-60's lowriders on wire wheels that started it.

I'm looking at doing the same thing with my BRZ, getting a 17x8 rim as I'm not finding anything in 17x7 that I like. Since I'm buying a set of winter tires and the other set of rims, I'm keeping the stock tires until I have enough money to upgrade to something better next year.

Everything I've heard and read said that the extra inch wont be a cause for concern in terms of lifetime of the tire. Let's face it, these stock Michelins are not going to last very long anyway.

No need to be an asshole about it, I was just stating the facts. Giving the OP a heads up, cause he probably doesn't know the risks behind doing it.

I apologize. I didn't mean to be. Just seems like the board tends to be a rather hostile place sometimes so I was probably more defensive that I should have been.
Sincerely I apologize.

I understand, forum boards can be a little hostile from time to time. Sorry about before, I was just trying to give the OP a little something to think about before he went through with it. I learn more and more everyday from being on here.

I should be posting pics soon. Truthfully been having a tough time finding a place that will do it. They used to but now they don't.
I was told by Discount Tire today that for a 9 inch wide rim you have to have at least a 235 or they won't mount. Personally with the little amount of power we have and the fact I want to drift my car I wouldn't go above a 225. I even put my rims up for sale but I have found two places I can go so I am having it done tomorrow. The truth is I would never risk doing a 205 on to a 9 or anything wider than a 9 with a 215. If I was worried about it I really wouldn't do it. But this isn't the first time I have done it. I had a 225 stretched on my audi tt 9.5 inch wide rim and handled L.A roads without an issue. Which by the way discount did the mounting on.

I'm running 215 on a 9.5 rim so go for it.
