force them to document:
- the customer complaint
- the observations of a ride-along (tech will need to ride with you, you need to replicate problem)

Even if they do nothing, you have documentation.

I think there are some valuable lessons here. It is always likely that a new platform will have some bugs initially, so if you want to be a 1st adopter, buy from a maker with a good warranty track record. Don't expect a maker to cover damage that could be related to your having engine management software altered. Would we want the cost of warranty service on damage from bad tunes built into the price of our next car purchase? My car is the best of the three track toy/DDs I've owned, and the powertrain is stock all the way back to the rear axle. Anyone with any road course experience knows being fast is more about skill and grip than power, so think long and hard about where your money is best spent. If you want to power mod a new platform, you are voiding your warranty and taking your chances. You will pay to play participating in AM R&D while the limits of the stock platform are being forced to surface. The smart money is patient.

I thought some people had this injector seal fail on a stock car without any altered ECU and were still denied warranty.

I am just going to wait patiently for update from Subaru for fix.
I have catless front pipe installed yet and probably going to install after having TSB / Recall from Subaru

Not sure, but I don't recall hearing that to be the case with Toyota. Those with a stock power train will have a better chance of warranty service. If this is a manufacturing issue, I think the appropriate TSBs will be issued, and it would be difficult for Subaru to deny if Toyota is paying for repairs. These things take time.

Here is what we found:

Cylinder #1 injector was so badly pitted that we had to completely replace it:

Good freaking god. That cylinder would have let go eventually...

@phm14 just curious if you are, being so defensive, somehow related to toyota

imo, without further official information, this is a big issue right now: 1. failing seals may cause engine blowout 2. costs a decent amount of money to fix 3. may happen at any time during or after warranty period 4. warranty at some dealerships may be denied due to something trivial as cat-back or occasional track time and fighting warranty denial is PITA 5. recurring issue (back to 1-4 above) 6. a lot, if not majority, of people buy this car to mod it and they can't do it if the platform is not reliable - see 4 above.
and i probably have missed some other points.

in short, this car should only be bought by people who only do daily driving, keep it completely stock, and plan to sell it before warranty runs out.

i'm guessing not many people who buy this car fall into this category.

that's why i would expect toyota/subaru to step in and do extensive research and testing and find out with 100% certainty if this happens because people are running bogus custom tunes (as you seem to imply) or because there is a design and/or production issue (which it seems more people seem to believe). In latter case a TSB/recall would be greatly appreciated.

so far though both toyota and especially subaru have been playing dumb and considering that their track of fixing issues with this car is less than stellar (i have '13 and looks like only the taillight have not leaked thus far, i've got most of all other common problems) it does make me worry that my only option I'm left with is to stay stock and sell the car before warranty ends. i'm sure neither owners nor vendors would be happy with that option.

sitting and patiently waiting - good luck with that. first, they may not know there is an issue and second no business will ever spend extra money to fix an issue no one complains about. they will only react if you either hit them with money or bad publicity. unless people start bringing their cars to dealerships and have work done under warranty for every little issue until they realize that it's less expensive to spend time and fix the part than replace it over and over again; or until people start complaining and making noise everywhere they can - nothing will change.
