I've done search but it seems like all break in instructions/ opinions are related manual transmission cars.... any tips for breaking in auto cars? Thanks

I just picked up my AT monogram over the weekend. I'm no expert, but what I am doing is keeping revs below 4k rpm and making sure to not keep it at same speed for too long (I.e long highway drives). Also, I'm doing this for first 1600 kms/1000 miles

No difference. If anything, there would be less concern with an automatic than with a manual transmission.

I would not be too granny on the gas. And even use the paddles to shift properly.

You want the car to downshift if you accelerate up hills. Sometimes if you granny the gas, the transmission won't downshift and you can lug the engine.

I'm more concerned of not being able to get to speed as I live around suburb - not many highways around so speed is most likely to be on low most of the time..

You'll want to spend roughly 10% of your time in reverse between 2200-4100 RPM. Seeing that you're in Australia, you will want to convert that to metric. It's also important to only engage your windshield washers at an incline no less than 10 degrees and no greater than 17 during break-in unless it's daylight savings time. If you don't follow these directions perfectly, your car will explode as you are walking away from it in slow motion.

Just drive it like a normal person.

Yup, just drive like a normal person.

It's not just the trans you're breaking in, it's the whole car. Brakes, suspension, engine-everything!

I've got an automatic too. Follow the owners manual procedure. Easy on the gas, avoid constant speeds, braking, etc... for 1000 miles.

At 1150 miles I installed a turbo and now I floor it...

The FR-S in full auto mode will downshift before it lugs no matter how little throttle. You can however lug it by not downshifting while in manual mode.

Drive it like you are going to drive it, starting day 1. Never had an issue with any car I bought new.
