Sealant or Synthetic Wax

I'm trying to decide which is better for my purpose. I hear really good things about sealants like Sonax Netshield but know that you can't apply wax on top so maybe the best of both worlds is a synthetic wax. My main goal is durability with a nice clear finish that beads water for a long time, preferable application is 2-3 times per year. I love the pop of carnauba but am willing to sacrifice that for longevity of the layer. Any tips or recommendations?

I use Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax every other month. For that "just waxed" water beading, I use the ultimate spray wax after every wash.

I've had Sonax Polymer Netshield on my BRZ since December. I've washed my car a handful of times since then (finished each time with a quick spray wax). It's still beading water.

I prefer synthetic, sometimes i like to put a nice layer of carnauba on top to make it pop. But you can't do that with all synthetics...

Yea i'm leaning more towards the sealant as of now. Just torn between Sonax or Menzerna. Kind of leaning towards menzerna because its more of a gel as compared to the watery spray that the sonax is. I also plan on doing a full detail in spring using menzerna polishes so I figured Id stick with the brand for what its worth. thanks for the input fellas

I haven't been overly pleased with the menzerna. It didn't seem to hold up that well the couple of times I've used it.

Staying within a brand generally nets best results. I use Griots Paint Sealant topped with Griots Best of Show wax. I wash only with Blackfire Rinseless and quick detail with Finish Kare 425.

I wouldn't change a single one of these products - or my routine - for the world.

Megs is decent stuff, but when it comes to sealant vs wax, I'd take sealant every single time over wax. Wax just doesn't last as long.

Just this past weekend I stopped by autogeek.net headquarters and asked what to use on brand new cars that have minor swirl marks.

I didn't want to polish THEN wax so he recommended the one step griots plish/wax-sealant.

I'm really glad I went with their recommendation. I did the entire car in one step. First washed with dawn then clayed the entire car then used the one step with their orbital.

Here are the pics;
