Commiting Blasphemy...I should know this

I am taking a BRZ on a driveway test today. Just out of curiosity, what would be the easiest and cheapest way to raise the car 1 inch?

To avoid bottoming out entering/exiting the driveway?


Move.















You can always install some coilovers and raise the car 1" over stock, but it'll look dumb. Not cheap, though.

If your driveway is a rolled curb/gutter you can buy this junk:


problem solved.

Stock height you can angle anything and be fine... I am fine even with a 1 1/2 - 2 inch drop.

The easiest way would be not buy the BRZ and stick with the WRX. As mentioned, at stock ride height I never found a driveway that I couldn't get up without scraping if taking it at the proper angle.

My work entrance has a steep incline that is all gouged up from cars scraping. My BRZ can tackle it straight on no problem. My '03 WRX wagon with a softer stock suspension (and a bolt on rally innovations bar) will scrape if I go too fast head on (ie 6mph instead of 3).

If you can angle, you should be fine in most cases. I angle over speed bumps - not bc it doesn't clear, but bc when both wheels on the same axle drop at the same time, there's more suspension compression and it can "thunk" if you go too fast (ie 3mph vs 1!).


OP - are you looking to ride 1" taller all the time, or just negotiating one entrance? Solution could be as mentioned to put ramps over that extrance, or a more complex solution might be some sort of air bag suspension that would allow you to raise and lower your car on command. (Not sure if they make it for our cars or how they affect handling.)

Drive in with a lot of speed, brake hard, release just before the kink so that suspension unloads just as you go over it

Seriously though, you're gonna be fine.

You could try backing in depending on what your parking situation is...you may want to get a back=up cam but it'd be better than raising the height.

All this talk about wheels... You're supposed to compensate for the wheel diameter by changing the sidewall height so that the speedo doesn't change. If what you want is more clearance changing the wheel size is the wrong way to do it.
