Unusual Tire Wear - Test
Just got my 86 serviced and the dealer noted with confusion that my front tires were significantly more worn than my rear. They had not been rotated. Who knows why?

Rear tires get changed much more frequently than the fronts ,and you have scrubbing from toe out for turn on response?
This is my final answer. Definitely am expecting increased wear from autocross usage - I know my fronts get hammered quick compared to the rears Last edited by DarkPira7e; 10-10-2019 at 02:26 PM. |

I suspect track or autoX use + possibly sub-optimal setup.
My car wears fronts WAY more quickly than rears at the track. But my setup is not optimal... Bottoming on cut-down front bump stops results in heavily loading the outside front in corners. Lost a ton of front bump travel due to camber plates and -1.25" ride height with springs... Last edited by ZDan; 10-10-2019 at 02:41 PM. |

I too fail to achieve 'slow in, fast out' far too often.

Correct! No power and understeer (no front camber adjustment), the fronts get lots of abuse and the rears get very little. I found it kind of funny that the service techs didn't recognize why.. I mean my RE-71rs look like I put a blow torch to them they are so melted... Can't imagine I am the only 86 that comes in this way.

I have tried camber bolts in the bottom hole, top hole, and both holes on the strut; I haven't tried them in the glove box.How much camber do you get from them in that location?

I'm still wearing the fronts faster with -4° but that's a nut behind the wheel problem... well at least my setup changes haven't moved the needle a bunch yet. |

There should be a cab-rearward 2-seat version of this car, with rear wheels shoved about 10"-12" forward for 50/50 distribution!

Have noticed a strange rattling noise coming from the glove box though ever since I put them in. Super easy install though.
