MotulGear 75W90 okay for tranny and diff?
So i ordered 4 bottles of Motul 300 75W90 for my transmission and diff, but the shop shipped me MotulGear instead
. I'm gonna call them up and ask for an exchange. If, for any reason, I cant exchange them, has anyone else used MotulGear instead of Motul 300 on tranny and diff? |

I figure "Motul" is the brand name; "gear" is a descriptor. They very well be one in the same....... fer sure.humfrz |

hmmmm........upon further reading, you may wish to consult with the Motul web site (and other forum members) before you put the Motul 300 gear oil in our car's limited slip differential. Seems like they make a "LS" formulation for limited slip differentials.

CSG Mike has said that with the 300LS the limited slip will hold on for just a bit longer before slipping, but he also pushes these things much harder than I ever will. Otherwise, 4 quarts of 300 is cheaper than 3 quarts of 300 and 2 quarts of 300LS. I get mine from AZP Installs.

300ls definitely locks up earlier than standard fluid.

I run regular 300 in both my trans and diff. From everything I have read our Diff does NOT require the 300 LS and I am not sure you can run the LS in the trans.

Run Gear 300 in your trans, and you can run EITHER Gear 300, or Gear 300 LS in the rear diff. There is some anecdotal evidence, (from very reliable sources, read: CSG_Mike) that the diff does feel better with the Gear 300 LS, but the difference will likely not be noticeable by the vast majority of users unless you are an experienced driver on the track, pushing the car hard, running the fluid back to back.
I choose to run Gear 300LS in my rear diff since I need to stock both Gear 300, and Gear 300 LS due to my FXT having an R180 in the rear.
