I replaced the axle nut last night after picking up a nut for $4.50. So far this has taken car of the noise. I wish someone would have suggested this to me long ago! Thank you very much. Hopefully it says good.

Yesterday when I was leaving my house I forgot to take the ebrake off. I heard the click when I tried to back out. Since then I'm hearing the click again but more often in reverse and it's not as loud as it used to be before replacing the axle nut. I can only speculate still at what it might be since it's happening again but not as frequent or as loud since the axle nut replacement a few days ago. I was click free for a couple days at least.

I see the image you posted, but what are you trying to say. Do I need to replace something or tighten something? Please be a little more detailed so I can do whatever you're not saying. Any help is appreciated.

That might help some people but my clicking is not related to the brakes in any way.

Not quite. That means:
Your axle is bad OR the ebrake shoe retention springs are clicking due the problem mentioned above.

1- start off in 1st gear at a stop after previously moving forward
2 - release all of the brakes
3- Start moving - Tink
4 - shift into 2nd - Click
5 - downshift back to 1st - Tink.

If the click occurred each time, from the rear, right when you applied the torque on the up/downshifts, and you never touched your brakes - ur axle is bad.

Of course there are other things that can cause this kind of click from the rear, but these noises are definitely originating from the outer hub area.

I did the exact test you discuss for the techs to demonstrate the same noise I could do in the above example, then they became fixated on the brake.
So dont mention the brakes and take them for a drive to show them the click.

I'm about to take mine back for them to do the passenger side, but I was waiting for it to get worse so there was no question where the noise is coming from this time.

Sounds like my problem (click when not using brake). I took it to three dealers and none of them would touch my car as it's full of aftermarket parts (suspension, power, etc). I'll probably just drive it until the axle fails then replace them with the higher rated aftermarket ones. The axle nut made the sound go away for a day which was weird, then started to come back but not as loud or as often as before the nut replacement. If it was brake related then it wouldn't be affected by a nut replacement, so it must be axle related.

Let me guess, you jacked the car up to replace the nut (I hope you did).
This would have fully extended the axle CV joints and redistributed the CV joint grease.

Yes I jacked it up, took the wheel off and replaced the nut. So you're basically saying that the click is less noticeable because the grease was moved around a bit inside the cv joint? I've had that side up in the air multiple times in the past and it never changed the click noise but perhaps when I took the nut off and put the new one on it loosened it enough to have grease move a little.

I greased various parts in my ebrake as one of the guys suggested. It didn't seem to help for the first few days. Then after a few days later I had a track day and it went away. Perhaps the grease just needed to work itself around the ebrake areas in the drivers left wheel ebrake area. It's been about a month and haven't heard it since!!!
