Yea don't think base frs has the alarm function. Once activated, when you arm the alarm the car with lock symbol will be a solid red and not flashing.

For those who want to test out the alarm just roll down your window, lock it on your keys and open the door via manual locking latch. (not the door panel button)

Also you would have to have your smart key fob away from the car, if the car detects your key the alarm won't go off.

I simply had the Auto Mate add-on system installed by a shop and it does the trick, retains all OEM features

So it has to be solid red, not flashing for it to be activated?

I have a 10 Series with Push-button, and I get the flashing red lock when I lock the car. I've tried the steps to activating it to see AL ON or AL OFF and nothing happens. Any pointers?

I guess I could try your method of testing to see if it is in fact activated.

Actually I'm mistaken. Never stood long enough near the car. When you activate the alarm the icon will stay solid to indicate the alarm is activated. After awhile the icon will start to flash. Noticed this when I came back to my car with out my key and noticed the alarm icon was flashing.
