Thought I'd chime in, as I've also done an install (or rather, had one done, because I'm a dunce when it comes to some of these things) on my 86 by the boys at PAC here in Melbourne.
They haven't got all the pictures up, but this weekend, I'll take a few photo's and upload them so people can see the work (top notch). For those interested: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...4570380&type=1 Installed are Polk Momo MM6's 6.75" 2 ways in the front (MM6's) powered by a focal FP2.150, and the sub is a Phoenix Gold Sl12 powered by an Phoenixgold SD300.1 installed into the wheel well (as my car didn't come with a wheel). Head unit is currently stock, though that may change in the coming weeks. For sound quality up to about half way, it's excellent, and slightly let down by the head unit when pushing it to ear bleeding levels. With the exception of the focal amp for the splits, and the speaker grill on the sub, there is no practical loss of room and usability of the car. I will say one thing, and this is coming from a Liberty as my previous car, the sound system in the standard toyota is pretty sub par. The Liberty is no slouch, but there was zero impact on the audio in the 86, to the point where I'd rather drive with headphones in. Highly recommend the PhattAudio guys here too. |

so just to check with those who have installed an amp and aftermarket HU, the blue wire from the loom which is the remote power line needs to be hooked up to both the amp (remote power in) and the power antenna?

You don't need the Kenwood iPhone cord at all. Just plug the standard iPhone USB cable (30 pin, or lightning, doesn't matter) into the headunit USB port, and it will work perfectly, and automatically go into iPod mode.

I'd like to hijack this thread to give another thumbs up to Rodney, Melou and Alex's Team at Lifestyle store, very happy with my new setup.
Absolutely no regrets heading there after seeing this thread at these forums. The system includes the following: Eclipse AVN827GA head unit (This was factory fitted and had a camera installed with it as I never thought I'd be modifying the car until missing sections of the music annoyed me) The modified system as listed on the receipt follows: Audison Bit ONE DSP $1049 Audison AV5.1K Voce 5 Channel Amp $1599 Audison AV bit IN Voce Amp Digital Input $179 Hertz HSK163 3-way split system $799 Hertz Dcx100 4" 2-way coaxial speakers $49 Hertz HX250D 10" Subwoofer $340 Focal Ek35 2 Gauge Wiring Kit Elite $399 Focal Bam XXXL Soundproofing sheet/foam $329 Installation 4 Channel Amp $140 Installation Carpet Amp Rack $140 Installation 3-way Component speakers $300 Installation Rear Speakers $90 Installation Sound Deadening $200 Installation Custom Fibreglass Subwoofer Enclosure $990 Installation DSP tuning $300 After discounts this came to $6700 and was finished in a week. This is a complete stealth installation that does not reveal anything at first glance with all speakers in factory location. The bit ONE is under the driver's seat with USB cable hidden there as well for easy access to programming. The spare alloy wheel that comes with the Australian BRZ was flipped upside down with the subwoofer mounted in the space underneath the flipped wheel and after the factory wheel cover is thrown over it, the wheel acts as a very good grill with enough space under it for the subwoofer to throw and surprisingly enough allowed for a perfectly sized enclosure as prescribed by the Hertz tech sheet. This meant that neither sound nor available boot space was compromised. The Amplifier was mounted on a carpeted board installed on the rear of the back seats and still allows the seats to be opened level with the boot. The DRC for the bit one was mounted nicely next to the stock USB plug on the center console and is level with the push start button which ended up looking very sleek and lets me turn off the subwoofer at will. Custom mounts were manufactured for the front mid range and tweeters with custom mounts for the rear speakers as well. Sound quality at the volumes I listen to is excellent with crystal clear highs and mids with none of the harshness or muddiness of the stock speakers. Furthermore I was surprised at how detailed the previously missing mid bass section ended up being with the subwoofer also playing so low that the subwoofer could be felt even though I play my music far below speaking level and apparently since these are brand new speakers and haven't been run in yet they'll sound even better in 30 hours of play time when I'm due for my follow up DSP tune. So if anyone wants a very high quality install in Sydney's Western suburbs I recommend the Lifestyle store, pictures of the install will be uploaded as soon as Rodney sends me the photos from his phone. |

Worth every bit of it as I still have quite a bit left over to mod this BRZ to have at least the comfort of a 370z, since I had the money and targeted that originally. I don't need the power. Next things to go in will be an STI flexible tower brace and flexible draw stiffener then I need to research on what other suspension parts i'll need to improve the ride further.

Around $800 used according to Amazon and it's official Australian RRP is $1149, but since I needed someone local to install it, Life Style are really the only people in my area plus they offer lifetime warranty on their installs so if anything were to go wrong with it as early internet threads about the bit one were any indication, they'll fix it.
