Personally id like to see them only off the bare bones editions then you add what you want too. That way i wont get alloys you don't want, or the radio either.
I mean it is designed to be a "fun tuners car" after all. So why offer shit that isn't needed or wanted, only wasting their own time and resources otherwise. Last edited by JFC; 12-06-2011 at 01:14 AM. |

Well i would think a car that has a blank canvas (mind you the price is lower) and you can add what ever you want surely cant hurt more then asking people to buy stuff they have no intentions of using?
Seriously how long does it take to plug a standard stereo in?? Just think how many folks wont buy brand new, they will wait till a low kms 2nd hand comes along 4sale. Works for subway, don't want salad, well don't have it then, simple. |

totally stupid, i want big brakes, not crappy small wheels? Why wouldn't you do this yourself? CHeap options are cheap by doing yourself, not having a factory option.
Have any of you ever owned a car before? |

Nothing that comes from factory is really good, unless if it is a Porsche or Ferrari. Even on an M3 if you want to track it you have to make modifications on brakes. So a Toyota must be modded.

In the general american market a stripped down, steelie, version wouldn't really make it. Kinda why you saw it on the TC once and never again. Americans are lazy and impatient, along with wanting something pretty right out of the box. Its sad but true.

The car was never made for general Americans. Many are fat and obese, they won't even fit in the car comfortably. The shocks will probably blow from their weight.
However, I've seen some other countries. Coming back to the U.S. I was shocked to see so many drving their big fat cars with 22"s in chrome and other stuff that I don't see in other countries. In other countries, cars are for transport. In U.S. they represent the person driving it. Wheels are one of the easiest to change out. I've seen current Civic Coupe shell with just brakes and stuff being offered in U.S. for racing teams. Same could be done with this car easily. Cost them less labor to sell something. Probably won't show up in a dealer showroom. Not sure where Scion will make money from selling steelies, unless they also pack the car with something else like performance brakes, triple gauges, etc. |
