Is 225/45/18 going to be too much tire with sportline springs?

Also if you go with RB kit you're going to end up getting pretty big spacers to get the fitment anywhere close to flush(30mm+). Know I see a lot of guys running 10.5 +22's in the rear and still end up getting spacers that push em well into the negative offsets. Here's a good reference for you(for the rears) and stock body: 10.5 width with a +32 et, you can see how much poke there is... Add a 10mm or 15mm adapter and it only gets harder http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23831

Too tall, your gearing will be (my Yoda impression); you will loose fuel consumption and more importantly, acceleration.
A 225/40R18 is perfect diameter to replace with the OEM size. If you are going with a wider wider (8" or more), then you can go with a 245/35R18 or 255/35R18 depending how aggressive you want to get. Daily driver only or autocross/track too? |

The only autocross in my area not held on days I work is BMW drivers. I've heard they're a cool bunch and won't mind but so far only DD.
I kind of figured 45 would be off based on what I've seen on the other 86s but I figured I'd ask as I was going to get a really good deal on the tires. Oh well

Will this fit? (width, offset and tire size Qs)
Quote:
A 225/45 is 5.5% larger than stock A 225/40 is 1.6% larger than stock A 225/35 is 1.6% smaller than stock A 225/40 with a slight stretch (IE on a 8 or 8.5 rim) would probably reduce that 1.6% down to stock diameter or so. I have a 235/40 which is 3.1% larger but they are stretched on a 9.5 rim, my speedo is almost dead on. PS the 235s came w the rims, once they burn off im planning to go wider. |

To the wheel gurus on this forum.. I need some advice.
I'm looking at a set of 18x8JJ 5x100 with the inscription "22 ET 75HUB VR” I presume this means they are a +22 Offset with a HUB diameter of 75mm? So they should fit but might require a spacer to correc the Offset? If so can anyone recommend the correct size spacer for a fairly "flush" fitment? Thanks guys! |

So i'm looking at some 17x8 +37 advan RGII's. I'm wondering if this is the ideal rim size/width for handling? and what tire specs would be best for this setup?

You can (lots of room in back), but it just limits your ability to rotate. You can go up to 245/40/17 on an 8" wide wheel. That's almost exactly the same diameter as stock, so you won't see any difference on the speedo. There's lots of debate about responsiveness and weight, which is why I'm sticking with 225s (that and a HUGE price difference).
For 225s I'd go with a 45 sidewall, but that's mostly because of lots of freeway driving (every lil bit helps!) and they fill the gap just a tad more. The 40 sidewall makes the gap look bigger, but probably not so noticeable if you're lowered. Really, they're both pretty damn close to stock. My thought is that it's more practical to have a "square" set for ease of rotations, then add a small spacer in the rear to get the fitment you want, if desired, rather than different sizes front/back. I will probably add a 15mm spacer on my 17x8 rears. Bolt-on style, not slip on.
