I agree a sports car should have a stick, but I can't agree a proper sports car IS stick.. Them your saying Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Porsche are not proper sports cars, yet they just about define what sports cars are..

I hope that the manual doesn't go the way of the dodo bird, but with all the tech they put into autos, I can't help but wonder if they will... In fact if a car company could buy the autos as cheap as standards, I wonder how that would effect decisions in the way they equip cars..

If this car would've came with a regular auto, I would've deffiently gotten a stick btw..

Manual. Because I came from a prius. And because racecar

This was my first manual. So saw it as an opportunity to appreciate cars more.

My R32 GTR is the horsepower king, manual.
My AW11 SC is the corner specialist, manual.
My GTS86 is ummm, neither at this point but damn it drives like the AW11(suspension full works) in stock form which is why I bought it. Auto.

Which one do I take out the most, the AW11.... However, If it had an auto like the 86, I would have bought the auto version.

At the end, just personal preference. No point dissing others because it is different to yours.

For the purist, one could argue that you should get the Ariel atom over the 86...

I am not going to say that there arent any autos out there that are just fine in a sports car because there are.

BUT

For OUR CARS there is no other way besides a manual. The auto they put in the twins is a disgrace.

Test drove a manual, bought an automatic.

My first 20 years of driving were with a stick, so I've had that experience and am very happy with the AT FR-S as my daily driver.

Also looking forward to playing with the manual mode at some point in time (haven't yet in the five weeks I've had the car).

The real answer is it does not matter. The reviews dedicate about four passing sentences to the transmissions. They have two nice sentences about the manual and two nice ones about the automatic. It's about the drifting, not the shifting . . . .

i don't disagree, however "traditionally" it's been stick mainly because the "technology"of the slush boxes was mediocre at best. today, with the advent of computer driven electronics, along with advances in lock up torque converters, the "lowly" slush has risen out of the ashes, much like the proverbial phoenix. as mentioned, and i agree, the slush in this car is very, very good, however,in my view, a "direct drive transmission" gives better control, and "feels" more in synch with the car...call me traditional!..so be it!...just sayin'

Wtf is a AW11

When did cars start becoming their designation.. I don't see people calling the twins a ZN6 and what ever the BRZ is.. Why not call the car what it is.. A civic, a integra, a supra, and so on..

Have you driven a auto yet, (while I'm sure your going to say yes to defend yourself) its far from a disgrace.. From a roll and around a track it's just tenths of seconds from a stick, IF you can push both to the max..

If this was an auto from say a eclipse, then I'd agree, but show me a better performing auto that's not a DSG or twin clutch or anything like that
