UPDATE: So the arbitrary process has begun. The dealership agrees that I should get a new car but the ultimate decision lies with Toyota. I was given the paperwork to fill out and I'm told that from the time my paperwork is received to the time the arbitration process is complete should be no more than 40 days. We'll see how this goes.

This worries me. I had my CEL issue worked on at Toyota of Temecula and am now at 7500 miles and just had my first oil change. I thought I was free and clear after a couple thousand on the repair.

Guess I'll just have to keep flogging it around in the hills after work to make sure everything is okay.

I know it's been a while since my last update but this is the last one for this topic. I finally received the car back last week with a new engine. The service department did their operational checks, tacked on another 30 miles on my car and deemed it "repaired". I took possession of it and drove it 20 miles before I had another CEL. Fortunately I'm already in negotiations with Toyota. They have agreed to a complete buy-back and I should see ALL my money paid thus far returned to me in about 2 weeks. After I have my money, Toyota will set up a time to drop the car off and then I am rid of the FR-S forever. I truly love the car (when its running properly) but I will not be buying another. I'm gonna go with something a little more proven reliable. I'll miss the community and the looks and comments I get with the FR-S but believe its for the best.

Glad to see you are being taken care of with the buy back, but it's still a sad story that it appears something like this cannot be fixed.
Thanks for lertting us know the outcome.
Good luck with your next car!

Geez, you have had quite the ordeal with this car. Best wishes for the next car to be perfect!

Nah. I've got a family to cart around. My family car is starting to die too so I'll get something that fits the whole family.

It's still in the shop but they're telling me they adjusted cam timing and are messing with some sensors.

^ This!!!

This is the reason why I've been putting off on getting all the TSB's and other little things done to this car. Once I hear that the idle dip and other things are being repaired properly I'll take my car in. As of today the idle dip just got worse. Like to another level where the engine was shaking pretty bad. I'm hoping that I don't get a CEL, which I've never had. Another thing that bugs the shit out of me is the lost signal by the NAVI.

I'll be going to the dealer soon mentioning ONLY the ECM reprogramming recall and the NAV fix. Leave my chirpy HPFP alone for the time being. If I get a CEL, well, that's a different story.

Thought about that too, but I can't tell you the times I took another car in for something small only to have the service mgr tell me, "hey we took care of all the other stuff too". This after instructing him to only work on the stuff on the list. No bueno.
