![]() Anyways... I don't think I've ever seen air lifts on a street car. They have them on race cars because they have to change the tires as quickly as possible, but unless you have a full pit crew ready to change all 4 tires every time you stop for gas, there's probably better things to spend money on. Plus they need a constant supply of air to keep the car up so they wouldn't be that useful or safe for working under your car. It would be cool though... |

The FB20 was designed with fuel efficiency and emissions as a priority, it`s a long stroke engine with a disastrous rod ratio (1.44). Tada San mentioned that the engine has been completely modified, they may have gone as far as modifying the bore/stroke as the engine block casting is known to be different from the FB20. Aparently, the restrictions imposed by the engine architecture still stand, as the 7400rpms redline shows, this is no high-revving engine. Calculating from the FB20 numbers, it generates 196Nm @ 4200rpms and 150hp @ 6000rpms, which means a BMEP of 179 psi at torque peak and 162.5 psi at peak power. Assuming they manage to keep that BMEP while moving peak power to 7000rpms, the FT86 engine would have 175hp. Now we know direct injection is being implemented, which usually means a BMEP improvement in the 8-10% range. Using a 10% improvement, BMEP 178,75 @ peak power, calculations show that the engine would have 193 SAE hp. There is NO WAY this engine is making 210hp. It will barely make it to 200. |

FB is very economy oriented, but more aggressive cams wouldn't be able to improve the torque that much since efficiency drops pretty fast after 75% atmospheric density charge.
I think we can see more than 200Nm at peak power, which could possibly bring it over the 200hp mark. I'm saying 210 if there is some kind of surprise addition of valve lift control which probably won't happen. Judging from the Subaru shiny engine picture there is no Valvematic which allows for an even more aggressive high rpm lift characteristic than your typical stepped system, so we definitely won't be beating the 2GR-FSE (no variable lift/duration) in terms of specific torque as I pointed out. |

If I'm spending 20+ grand on a second vehicle to have fun with, it better not have that kind of power

It was about a minute behind the Civic Type R and it's specs are:
The drive train is largely the same as the out going model offering 201 PS (148 kW; 198 hp) at 7,500 rpm and 193 N·m (142 lb·ft) of torque at 5,600 rpm. The car has a curb weight of 1,267 kg (2,790 lb). One of Michel's pictures, I noticed the white exhaust tips. Could it be possible that they did some minor ecu tuning with race gas to get some gain?

Comparing the race version of the CTR to the street version is useless. It's like saying the ST class Civic in Grand-AM only has 197HP and I can tell you with all certainty...they got a lot more than that.

I think I'm gonna have to clarify a few things here.
Sp3 (like all SPecial classes) isn't a stock or even close to stock class. Far from it! Actually you're allowed to change, tune or mod (almost) everything you want. For example you could swap the engine for another engine of the the same make, or you could modify your engine by changing the bore/stroke, the crank, the camshafts, etc. The only limitation is, that your block needs a serial number on it, that identifies it as a product of your carmaker. If you want to take a look at the regulations, you can find them here:http://adac.24h-rennen.de/uploads/me...ng_2011_01.pdf (Sp classes start page 61, engine stuff page 64) And because of that the Civic is a real full on Racecar and not anywhere near stock. More Info on the Civic: http://mugeneuro.com/index.php?mact=...t01returnid=60 http://www.jasmotorsport.com/en/RaceA.aspx?Id=85&Aut=90 If you want to compare the FT to other equally stock cars, you should take a look at the V3 class as those cars will have rougly the same mods as the FT and also have 2l engines. This chart will give you a rough idea of their abilities and specs: http://www.vln.de/includes/download...._Matritzen.pdf |

While I'm not expecting a 350hp 2-liter, 200hp here in 2011/12 isn't THAT much to ask. I'm actually pretty confident that it will be pretty damn close to 200hp with all the tech going into it and knowing Yamaha is getting their hands on it. |

. If you want a little more HP, you can go to aftermarket for easy bolt-ons.
