Haven't seen mention of Pilot Super Sports, which should come into the equation if we're talking about performance summer tires.

Contrary to C&D tests, PSS is not competitive with the other tires mentioned.

I'm looking for something comparable to BFG KDW2 in wet grip but not nearly as loud. I like stiff sidewalls, I can't handle howling road noise. |

Looks like tire rack has less than 10 star specs left in 225 selling for 160ish on closeout, if I had the money I would snag them

I've run StarSpecs for years on the S2000 in OEM AP1 sizes (205/55-16, 225/50-16) with mostly great results. However, on the RX-7 I just swapped a set of Pilot SuperSports (245/275) on in place of StarSpecs (255/265), and I have to say the Michelins feel much better and provide better feedback. For whatever reason, the FD front end felt quite numb with the *Specs, to the extent that I suspected the steering geometry was off due to V8 swap. But with the Michelins, the car feels great, and the steering feels much more alive.
I tracked it a couple of times on the StarSpecs, and they really weren't up to the power level of the RX-7. I don't expect the Michelins to be, either, but I might give it a shot... Anyway, for the intended usage (lowish power reasonably light decently balanced car), I recommend the Michelins. If they aren't within a few tenths (not necessarily a foregone conclusion) of the usual "Extreme Performance" tires, no big deal for someone just starting out tracking. |

I loved those tires! I didn't notice it so much with an exhaust, but when I got another car without an exhaust it was almost unbearable.

Oh haha yeah I probably will not go as fat as that...not my cup of tea. I was inquiring to the Max of just right, not slammed and hella flush.
So the two wheels I am looking at are gram light extremes or rota pwr's. What do you all think for a wrb brz. I was told that if I'm going to spend the money I should spend it on the rays, the rotas are a cheaper brand and may tend to crack? What are all of your guys thoughts on the two, or any wheel in general for that matter. |
