On a side note, I've been following AVO on the rs25.com forum. You'll see AVO turbo users going back to the late 90s with great reviews.

One of the members "hondah8er" has 151k problem-free miles on his 2001 RS with AVO turbo installed at 51k miles.

Another forum member on there with a 2006 RS whom I spoke with in detail, said Paul bent over backwards to square him away on his turbo, which has been problem free.

Allegedly, the fa20 motor is much more stout than the reliable RS motor, but only time will tell.

Just good food for thought.

The AVO folks have had a large Subaru following on other forums like NASIOC, as well. Folks have been running AVO kits for a long time and have been very happy with them.

As with any turbo kit on the EJ25 N/A, there is always a potential for failure at multiple points, but generally speaking AVO kits were the gold standard and the best of the bunch by far.

The EJ25 is a considerably weaker design than the FA20 and by all accounts, takes to boost far less adeptly than the FA20. The DOHC versions of the EJ25 (98-99 model years for the 2.5 RS) were even less reliable on F/I compared to the SOHC versions. So at the risk of jinxing myself, I'd like to say the FA20 is a more ideal block to turbocharge versus other Subaru N/A motors.

@TyperRspec789 , welcome to the club. I see you're also getting the RCE Yellows, too, and also have a hybrid exhaust system...I used to live in DE, true story.

There is already WasteGate, and no boost controller is not required because you adjust the boost level manually on this kit.

Already have decent tires... But I'm sure my stock clutch will be the culprit of robbing me of a 12sec 1/4 mile...

Then upgrade to an ACT HD streetlite clutch?

The boost controller is an optional feature you can add if you want to change boost. The kits wastegate already controls boost.

the BOV is HIGHLY recommended, but not ABSOLUTELY necessary. (Anyone please feel free to correct me).

While correct, I'm not sure why anyone would make a kit without one.

Technically, an intercooler is not needed either, but is highly recommended.

Both should be included standard.

I absolutely agree with you and will be running a BOV with my kit. I think AVO did this to give options to customers who prefer to go and get either a big shinny Tial BOV or a cheap Bosch BOV.
