I drive mine year round, though I'm just going to do the same thing I have with most of my other vehicles, throw some ultra high performance all seasons on it and call it a day, they will have at least as good dry traction as the OEM times and be fine for the winter, especially with the total lack of torque our engine has, heck I had no issues with all seasons in New England winters with my Magnum which has 390ft-lbs of torque stock, the only vehicle I ever put winter tires on was my Dakota R/T 5.9, RWD pickup with a big V8 and no traction control or stability system to speak of, basically the worst thing you can get in the snow.

I would agree, especially if you are from anywhere besides Northern Ohio. Lake effect can be a killer sometimes.

Ill probably just drive my trusty 4wd silverado in the winter, unless we get another weak ass winter....the salt here just destroys cars.
But a few late night drift sessions might just happen!!!

Just thought I would update you folks, where the owners manual says the top speed with winter tires is only 50 kph, here is the response from Scion Canada:
We have researched your inquiry and we wish to confirm that there will be a correction to future Owner's Manuals to indicate that the max recommended speed is 120km/h when using snow tires, not 50km/h. We apologize for the error. |

Always get the best tires you can afford. The difference can be your life or death. I would only trust major brands like Dunlop, Pirelli, Nokian. Look at Tirerack ratings. Do not take anything with rating below 8 on snow.

I think this thread lacks photos, so here's one:
![]() This is my GT86 with studless Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 215/55R16 on SvF Le Mans 7x16 ET45 rims. Now, everybody out and play in the snow :-) |

winter driving
^that looks awesome! Hope the Nokian's work out for ya, that was my alternate tire choice but I went with the Blizzak WS70's instead (great hookup). If the longevity on these is poor I may try those next 😁

Except possibly for Michelin Pilot A/S Plus which are really unbelievably good in snow.

They will be much better than all season tires. I use high performance winters out here in western Canada with zero issues.
