Funny, because after 2005, I've considered Subaru to be a "performance division Toyota." They wouldn't make any Corolla or Camry rwd, but I don't think it's too different from an AWD Legacy, 2.5Gt, or 3.0R.

Daihatsu is actually owned by Toyota. Suzuki is the fourth largest Japanese Automobile company (after the big three). As for Isuzu...I think it is part owned by Toyota and Mitsubishi... but still independent (?)

Ads
Another issue for Subaru in regards to ads for the BRZ is that the BRZ doesn't fit in with their current ad campaign. That whole "love" campaign, as well as a history of being all in on AWD, makes it tough to put it in the campaign. If you think about it, have you ever seen an ad for a WRX?

there is no advantage or disadvantage. the amount of sales between the two companies is not accident. the scion has fixed pricing so they can pump out as many as they can while im sure they have studied how many brzs they can put on the road and still maintain the profits from selling at or above msrp. its the best of both worlds for the company because they get to sell volume and maintain the price gouging for exclusivity.
