Dynojets are pretty much as consistent as it gets tho'. I generally treat SAE corrected dynojet numbers as "truth" (although, for FI cars, STD or uncorrected numbers are more appropriate). Dynapacks typically read higher, but they too can be tweaked. |

Steady state inertial dynos are as simple and consistent as it gets. Realistically, do you really think that ANY engine is going to lose more than 25% of its power through the drivetrain? Perhaps perception should be altered to reflect that your dynos just read too low? Like was said before though, its a tuning tool. It's a tool for measuring against a benchmark. That's what he said that I "thanked" him for. Doesn't anyone down under have a dynojet? |

The mechanical efficiency of the drivetrain I read is usually around 90%, maybe a little better. Throw in tires, you have rolling resistance to deal with, and that takes off something on the order of a few percent, depending on the gear, weight distribution of car, whether or not the front wheels are spinning, etc. But you can change the type of tire, change the air pressure, and change this significantly. IMO, you either have the rollers connected to each other and have the wheels all spinning (this simulates road conditions vaguely), or you go for the hubs if you can't directly dyno the engine. Anything in between is going to give you a number that's both further from the "truth" and not useful for determining real world conditions. But the question is, do you really need to know the number to brag? |

The only issue with hub dynos are that they read torque output. They use the RPM signal to determine hp output. There's too much wasted space on the internet comparing dyno numbers against different dynos. lol.

Im all for Dyno's being a very usefull tuning tool.
Everytime i go on the SAME dyno we compare previous readings . Dyno Dynamics is the most prevalent dyno here and they tried to sell in the USA but wasnt accepted as lower figures disappoint both the customer and the shop. As soon as someone does a dyno over here on a stock car and compares it to a dynojet you wont understand what im talking about. |

I don't think anything will be released until Friday (in Aust) for WTAC. Atleast that's what they seem to want to happen.
We'll just have to wait until then
