Didn’t think this thread had any activity.
Update: everything is working great. Vehicle had an engine out service. Warranty fucked me over, but we live and we learn. I was able to bring the price down by doing the j02 recall. I was torn with the decision but my service contact Dennis at Toyota was great. He was knowledgeable about the platform and was super helpful. I’ve put about 500miles on the vehicle since the recall. I’m aware that I’m still not in the clear. No issues, next oil change I’m pulling the pan for inspections and sending oil samples out. Idle is fixed. I suspect them flashing the ECU fixed it. A/C noise is gone. There still is a rattle that i originally thought was coming from the transmission, but it is in fact due to a weld snap on the exhaust in a place where I wouldn’t have seen it. Clutch was returned to stock, throw out bearing replaced. Air intake was returned to stock. Timing cover got the reseal, as of now, there hasn’t been any oil leakage. That’s not to say it won’t come back, but time will tell. As for the state of this thread, I want to issue and apology to Ultramaroon for how things played out especially with the totally untubular replies. Pretty much aha. Fortunately, it all got taken care of in one go when everything was already out. Regarding the welding question, the weld simply failed. I'm not familiar with welding, but there's a small 1-2 inch cut along the weld bead. I'll be getting it repaired very soon.

Ah ok, a failed weld. That sucks. On what part of the exhaust was it on?

Remember how I suspected that the cracked header may have caused the leak by heating and distorting a sealed joint? Look carefully at where the flaming hot exhaust is directed. Is it torching anything?

Poorly executed weld cracking at the weak point after a number of heat cycles and vibration. Both are cyclic loads work-hardening the material. Happens with unproven aftermarket stuff. "upgrades" lol

True, I’m looking around for a reputable shop that’ll weld it back up. Most estimates have been around $250. I’ll be pulling the plug and getting it done in the next few days
