Actually, the problem is MT drivers don't just express their opinions for preferring them, they extend their opinion to making them some part of a the master transmission race and that anyone that has a different opinion is somehow a lesser part of the community.

Look I'm more "transmission fluid" and have driven both types for 100s of thousands of miles. Frankly, it is to the point where a MT is an "automatic" for me because I don't think about it when driving so it adds very little to the driving experience in 99% of the driving I do. If there is a car I want and it has an MT then great, if it doesn't that's fine too. When buying a different car it just depends on my mood.

I bought the FRS with an AT because its my daily driver, and I liked the "novelty" of how good the AT is, allowing me to play "racer" when I want and "grandpa" when I don't.

That said I would by a CTS-V MT or other wagon tomorrow for the exact same reason, because it is different, and hits the same coolness factor for me.

In the end as we move away from ICE to alternative fuels the transmission isn't going to matter anyway.

Also have no clue why MT drivers act like they’re superior in some way. The MT has been around forever and has been driven by little old ladies way before it was put into a sports car. And guess what? It was hard to drive those things. Today’s are a joke compared. It’s old tech that’s dying and will die. It’s outdated and useless in this day and age. It is fun for a while though
I agree. Obviously not all MT or AT drivers have the same attitude, but it can get annoying. It’s pretty stupid to judge people just for how they get the car moving. I honestly used to be embarrassed admitting it was an auto. Now I really don’t care lol Both have their pros and cons and just comes down to your personal preference and needs.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - (why? - )

If you enjoy shifting gears with a stick, get a MT, if not, get an AT.

To add just a little nuance to the debate, it is worth repeating that the AT on this car is really exceptional. The one I drove was very responsive. I prefer an MT (also good on this car), but an AT of this kind presents a real alternative for those who want to get into the whole paddle shifting thing.

For those of you who want an AT so you can drive like my grandma, I can't help you.

Welp, let's keep in mind, that once upon a time, even "grandmas" drove nothing but MT cars -

This is exactly my point, did I troll a thread where people argue personal preference, yes, yes I did.

Then the but hurt about "words" start, millennial is not typical the word you typed.

I would never use that word you typed, you did, I'm sure that word offends people due to racist idiots, whereas the term millennial is typical to Gen X, or Gen Y, are those terms derogatory?

People get butt hurt about pointless things and then cry foul.

To me, you don't seem to know the difference between the two terms, or you are trying to escalate the term millennial to that of a term used by racsist idiots.

Fox news generarion, wow, stereotyping much, actually, Fox news is on foxtel isn't it, yeah, I don't subscribe.

Typical millennial

Anyways, have a nice day, it's a lovely Spring Sunday here and time for a cruise

Better to just drive in 1st or 2nd at 5krpm and gun it if a car with tint tries to saunter by.

Really though, I think it's no different than anything else. Some people prefer a Keurig K-cup Brewer, others prefer a filter in a basket that lets them choose their content. Scientifically, the portion provided with the K-cup is more commonly enjoyed. Some people still like 3 cups worth of grounds for their 14oz black coffee.

I'm sure there's a reason I still use a p38 for Spaghetti-O's that's the same reason I enjoy manual transmissions.
ok... what exactly is that, other than a fancy way to slice fingers?

why is 'because it's fun' such a difficult answer for people? it's not about efficiency, or because it's old, or more engaged. it's because it gives me something to do.

given the option of a 'manu-matic' that my last car had, i found myself always shifting myself because the cars shift points irritated me, and it was more enjoyable to shift myself. it didn't save gas, it wasn't more efficient. it was just more fun to me.

some people have fun different ways. go figure.

i love it. you've painted me into a corner where i can either try to refute anything you say and i'm a whiny little millennial, or i can ignore all of it, and millennial's suck.

i can't wait for all old people to die already so i can take all their old cars. i'm saving a spot in my garage for a '72 ranchero GT.

let's change the game. all boomers and gen x-er's are horrible, terrible people, who did in an entire generation, and then blamed that generation. prove me wrong.

You’re right BUT the MT crusaders always seem to ignore that fact that some of us find the AT transmission fun.

I like the paddle shifters because they’re different and fun.

ok, then stop trying to rationalize it with data and technique and just say so!

no one can tell you that you version of fun is wrong! ok, everyone is going to tell you that, but it's easier to justify something intangible like 'fun' than it is with raw numbers and pedal counts.
