considering the number of BRZ's sold at most dealers, within this time frame, being the first, or the 5th, isn't going to change the experience level much.

Lets not forget the several hundred thousand other models affected. This is not just a Twins thing.

Not the same thing and a stupid comparison all around. They are trained and experienced techs. Just because the engine is a different layout doesn't mean they will stand there scratching their heads in bafflement. The whole idea that they would is just moronic. There are total fools on here that manage to work on their cars without issue Why the hell would people think that guys that do it all day, every day would all of a sudden be confused because it is a different engine?
Do you work on your car or do you stand there baffled because bolts are in a different spot then the last car you worked on? What makes you so much more knowledgeable about cars than the people that have trained for it?
Fucking egotistical, "enthusiasts" that don't think anybody can do their job as well as they can are one of my pet peeves in this world.

Yep. I may have been a little harsh and will probably take some shit but this whole thread is annoying. It is a simple recall. Happens all the time to all manufacturers yet normally intelligent and knowledgeable people seem to have lost all sense of reality. There are people afraid of professionals working on their car, ones that think they are entitled to a whole new engine, some that can't seem to understand the simple instruction of "wait and we will tell you what to do next", and even some that feel there is some sort of "due diligence" required so the dealers won't screw them over.
People do know that the car and all the parts are assembled by a bunch of average Joes and Janes (or the Japanese equivalent) who's whole training may consist of "put this part here. Repeat". Hell some of the parts could be made by people tat are borderline illiterate. There is no magic to building or repairing cars.

People look at me like I'm a computer genius when I pull a side panel off and clean the dust and crap off the insides.

Honestly I'm not too surprised.

toyota techs are trained to work on toyota motors....
subaru techs are trained to work on subaru motors..
mercedes benz techs are trained to work on mercedes benz motors..

there's a reason why some car manufacturers partner up with specific tech schools to ensure the schools provide a constant stream of mechanics/techs that are trained to work on their cars... my buddy went to school to specifically become a MBZ tech... yes, he may a good idea of how to work on other cars, but he is specialized in MBZ

dunno why u sound so butt hurt abt it

And all techs are trained on the basics. None are baffled when a new engine is placed in front of them.
Once somebody is trained on one make they can't manage any others? Do you only know what part of your job and if something different comes up you stand there drooling?

No reason they couldn't. Give them the specs and let them at it. Are Ferrari techs born with and innate skill? Is there a cult hidden in the mountains where they are trained from birth by monks? Would they be baffled by a Kia engine? How do the poor sods working at independent garages ever manage to fix anything at all if they haven't been trained on every car ever made. The whole concept that they need to be trained on each different make just reeks of ignorance of how engines even work. I get the feeling you think there is something radically different between engines. There isn't.
