Im experiencing the same sound with the AC on, dissapears when I push the clutch in and only hear it when its idling. I thought it maybe had something to do with the lightweight crank pulley, flywheel and driveshaft I recently installed but im seeing that even stock twins are experiencing this noise.

Any leads would be greatly appreciated!

I had it when I had the light flywheel. Went away when I put the stock flywheel back on.

This happens even with my completely stock flywheel/driveline. Some say it could be throwout bearing, worst case scenario. Otherwise, either harsh cold weather or gearbox.

Sounds like ice cubes sloshing around in a bowl of cold water.

Ironically, this noise only started for me the exact day after switching to Motul300 trans fluid.

That's not irony. That's causality. The factory used thick stuff to damp the rattle.

Ironic for my case in particular since many others have run the same fluid with no such aftermath.

They just don't talk about it. Everybody that swapped out their fluid hears more noise.

That's why I figured i'd go with factory fluid when I filled my transmission back up yeah. Even still, seems this is just another one of the many unavoidable sounds these cars are known for making

It's not bad with Redline MT90. I didn't change it for the syncros, just a transmission swap.

Sounds are a good thing. You can more easily hear things when they change. As long as you don't hear any whine when you're on the gas, you're golden.

Bubba says that auto makers should have stuck with straight gears … they ALWAYS whine, no matter what oil you use in the transmission.....
