Going with Motul engine oil...
Summer is here and is bloody hot. I will use Motul engine (5W/30) oil in this interval, my concern is which Motul i should use:
Eco-lite Eco-nergy X-clean |

Just use a good 0W20. I know you think a thicker oil will not break down with the heat. But a thicker oil may also not circulate as well and could retain heat. Assuming its a DD. Tracking is a different story.

I use a thicker oil in my WRX but that has a turbo, that is oil cooled. The BRZ engine was built for 0W20, see no reason why a good 0W20 oil would degrade just because its hot out. Doubt you are spending all day up at 7K rpm anyway. With normal driving under 4K the engine is barely getting a workout. |

I went with eco-lite 5w-30. It's energy conserving approved so it meets the energy savings requirement in the manual. No idea what that means.
They meet different standards so maybe that can help you decide. |
