Ah darn, thanks for the heads up.

Hopefully the dealer has a 2017 I can take a peek at to see if that's worth getting to replace the Fischer-Price plastic of the 2013 gauge cluster hood.

The 2017 86 has a grey/white stitching on the gauge hood area, the BRZ I believe has a red one. Best place to look for a genuine leather or alcantara one is ft86speedfactory - I think they still sell the JPM Coachworks ones, which are great!

Very easy to install with just one screw to take off the plastic piece and replace with the new one.

Does the gauge hood match the leather dash piece or is it a completely different material?

I popped into the dealer today to take a peek at the updated 2017 materials:

- Dash material is unique, covered but not padded. Visually is very similar to the center armrest Toyota UK was selling.
- Gauge cluster material is unique, cheaper to the touch but looks close enough to match dash piece
- Knee pads are very different. They match the new door pads and door armrests and are much softer and have a different sheen than the dash piece. I think you might get away with installing the center console knee pads, but the door ones would look out of place without also changing the armrest/shoulder pad. The material also doesn't seem like it would hold up too well to kicks/rubs with shoes.

Having owned a '17 Limited for 8 months now, I will say these things about the materials:

- Looks better in pictures than it does in person (it has a weird grain to it up close)
- Picks up scuffs easily, but also cleans up perfectly (so far), you can scrub it with a wet microfiber to lift the scuffs and it doesn't seem to mar.
- Soft to the touch, but agree that it doesn't actually feel special/luxurious at all
- It definitely seems to be a synthetic material, I don't think that any of it is leather, not the dash, the doors or the knee pads.

I'm quite curious honestly about what it's truly made out of. Auto manufacturers are getting really creative these days with the materials they're using.

Glad to hear the stuff cleans up and scuffs go away fairly easily. I'd still be very hesitant to drop cash on the door knee pads, as I've seen my doors get some pretty good abuse in the winter with boots full of rocks/salt. I've got some scuffs in the plastic that I fear would be tears in the "leather".

I think I'm probably going to order the gauge hood and one piece dash. My dealer was also ~$240ish for the dash piece, so that'll be an online order. For me, that's the reasonable amount of updating for the 2013 interior.

The slight changes over the years and the big 2017 update really add up to nice improvement since the original launch car.

I saw this earlier, but did not like the carbon fiber one.. I may take the 2017 Toyota Suede Dash Trim to a local leather car seat shop and have it matched and stitched in yellow.

Got my dash this week. I had seen picture of this dash somewhere online and began searching for it. I found this thread and thanks to the info provided in this thread I ordered mine. I really like the look, I think it makes the dash look classier.

Unfortunately the dash is not mentioned in the equipment and options list, but this carbon dash picture has the standard seats, while there is another picture showing the suede dash with the optional leather/suede seats.

This is indeed the basic dash but I think it looks good enough (and better than my 2012 fake "T" carbon with the 2 parts not perfectly aligned). On paper the suede or leather dashes look better but I don't like that they don't match the suede/leather of my seats and doors, so I'm looking for the carbon version!

I emailed subarupartsdiscounter in April to ask the difference between the 4 versions they sell (66077CA110, 66077CA200, 66077CA220, 66077CA250) but I didn't get an answer.
Thanks for the heads up on the existence of this one piece carbon style dash. Please update us if you are ever able to track down a part number for it. I've searched online, but haven't been able to find any information on it either. I like the look of the carbon style dash in my 2016 FR-S, but would much prefer a one piece version compared to the two piece dash that came with the car.
