One piece dash and other 2017 parts

Has anyone that received a 2017 with the one piece dash panel gotten any good pictures yet? Very interested in the swap, but so far I think it is Canada specific (where they got the older radio with nav)?

Also, the new spoiler. Does anyone have a good picture of its mounting?

I'm hoping these two parts will just magically be direct swaps on the older cars but would like more detailed pictures / information.

There isn't a 1 piece dash in the US market model unfortunately.

Edit: Oops, I didn't read the full post, you already knew this.

I'm really hoping to snag a pair of the new fender garnishes. They look a lot nicer than what came on my car. Given that section of the car is unchanged, I believe they should pop right in.

I'm sure there will be a lot of parts swapping between the years. The bumper swaps over (according to some FB posts I've seen anyways) so I'm willing to bet the fender pieces do too!

Definitely. LOOKS like the side mounting points are the same or at least similar. That center post looks like it just rests on the trunk? Maybe that post can be cut / shaved for a cleaner look....

You can't just mount the spoiler on an old car, well I guess you could but ya not a good idea, the trunk lid has been reinforced on the 2017 models specifically for the wing.

"Reinforcement has been added (red areas) to provide extra strength to the mounting areas, as the number of rear spoiler mounting holes has been reduced.

 A special gas damper has been newly designed for models with a rear spoiler."

Yesterday I was at a small meet, there was something interesting now that you mention it.

If you pop the trunk in the old cars(in this case a FRS monogram) it would pop in a soft noise a click, but if you pop the new car it's a huge thunk the trunk is heavier and does feel more reinforced, just from hearing the noise.

I'll need to find an older car again and actually compare the trunk, the sound might just be the older car had a lighter spoiler thats decklid and the new one has those small towers to hold it up.

In the revisions document, they mention uprating the trunk struts and reinforcing the spoiler mounts.

Number of mounting holes reduced. Interesting. At worst it is a trunk lid swap and paint match for some. I'm not really concerned about the reinforcement aspect or trunk damper, lol. Unfortunately I like the matching vin sticker, so it may take some extra work and some welding.... IDK. :iono: Haven't seen the part listed as available through Subaru yet.

Is the bottom circular gasket sitting right? It's not flush with the metal.

BTW nice car. I thought you gonna wait for the PP.

hehe I don't really need the PP because I already have a car for when I want to run to the track the S2000. I also got a pretty good price for this BRZ so I'm pretty content.

Good Catch, I will take a look. there were some other pieces not fitting right on the car too.

Subaru Exterior/Interior quality it's to be expected

: )

Not just with Subaru but a lot of modern products in general I find, this decline in workmanship is global.

Remember those "OK" stickers that used to come on the side windows of Japanese cars, you don't see such things anymore.
