So what you are saying is it has more to do with the way the lip on the inside of the wheel is, correct? If so it sounds like I need to dry fit my wheels when they are delivered, and I think you are also saying that if the wheel clears the spring perch, then the tire most likely will clear as well, correct?

I bought the AMBIT RE02 from @JonMotoring, I got the 18x9.5+38 in "Hyper Black". Maybe Jon himself can comment on fitment, because I wasn't able to find a whole lot of info on tires being mounted on this wheel past 225 or 235 without using coilovers. I am currently just lowered using the Eibach Pro-Kit springs with no camber bolts, LCAs or anything else. My suspension is totally stock.

Also, can anyone tell me the best way to test fit the wheels while compressing the springs to make sure it clears? I just need to jack the car up from under that brake rotor, correct?

For the re02 18x9.5 + 38 we recommend 245/40/18 on the frs

Hi I recently got a set of 18x9.5 + 35 offset. What is the most appropriate tire profile for 1.5" drop on ST Coilovers? Looking for no rub (none at full lock), no rolling of fenders and ideally no stretching of the tires (unless for clearance).

Right now, I'm looking at 225/40 (which will stretch), but can I go up to 245/255s?

New member here, picked up a low mileage 2013 FR-S recently and have been lurking trying to learn as much as possible, but haven't found the answer I'm looking for. Planning on upgrading to some version of Rota's in 17x9 with 42mm offset and 235/40/17 tires to keep ride comfortable and a square setup to rotate. Plan on keeping stock otherwise for at least a couple of years. Only considered upgrades on the horizon are possibly:

1) STi brembos on front (if upgraded pads don't address my needs) and

2) Airlift suspension (not to drop to the weeds, but rather to ride 1"-1.5" lower and be able to go up to get into my driveway and parking lots...currently at stock height I scrape the nose a lot).

Wondering if anybody has input if any of the following will clear the STi brakes and Airlift system:

a) RT-5
b) Grids
c) Grid-V
d) SS-10
e) Titans

Also, what exactly is the difference between the Grids and the Grid-V's?

Would I rub on stock suspension? What's the best width tire to fit on the 9.5 & 9 for track?

We don't typically recommend such large rims/tires for the track.

It depends on what sort of track you're on (long and curvy with +120mph, or short, tight and technical with ~100 mph top speeds).

Most of us run 17x8 with 225/45 on the track. Any wider and you lose top speed due to rolling resistance.

On the shorter technical tracks you can get away with 245 since you won't have so much top speed.

My street rims and tires are 255/30-19 on 19x8.5 +45 with stock suspension. I had to remove my camber bolt (put stock one back in) and go back to 0 camber to stop rubbing the stock spring with the tire.

My track rims and tires are 225/40-17 on 17x8 +45. I put the camber bolt back in for these rims and can get about -1.5* camber in front.

I'm quite new to the car scene but I'm planning to put on some 18x9 +38 Work GT5s on my 86. Just wondering if it fits on stock suspension and what tyre sizes (or range) would you recommend? Primarily a daily driver with the occasional track day one or twice a year.

From what I've read 18x9.5s have fit on stock suspension so I'm assuming narrower rims should be ok?

Rims are
front 19x8.5 +45 tire nitto invo 245/35zr19 y
Rear 19x10 +50 nitto invo 275/30zr19 y

Will this fit without any modification to the fenders, and will it clear the stock strut?

Also will this throw off the speedo

Here is a fitment question for you gurus.

I have a set of Buddy Club wheels left over form my IS300 that have new rubber and I would like to see if I can get them to fit on my BRZ without looking ridiculous (too much poke/camber). Since the BCs are 5X114, I know I will have to swap the hub or run spacers conversions. Fronts are 18X8 +38, and rear is 18X8 +35. I was thinking of the Kics 11mm 5/100 to 5/114 spacers but I am questioning the front and if there would be too much poke. I think the rears will be ok, but not to sure about it. I've run it though the fitment calculator and it seems close but I was hoping to get some opinions form ppl here. The car will most likely be lowered with Sportlines.

So with the spacers the specs would be;

Front 18x8 +27 w/225/40s
Rear 18X8 +24 w/225/40s

Any thoughts?

8" +35 will not poke at all. I had 8" +30 at one point and they were just flush, no poke. If you get 18's get 225/40 or 235/40 the 225/45 is too tall.

It should fit fine. You might be pretty close on the coilover depending on camber. If you have too much neg camber a 3mm spacer will do it for you. You shouldn't rub the wheel well at all unless you've gone wrong with the alignment somehow.

It won't change the dynamics, you're just going with a bigger square setup. Add some 245/35R18 tires and you'll love it.

What offset are you looking at?
