adjustable valve for clutch for launching?
I'm wondering if I can install an adjustable valve on the clutch hydraulic line so I can dump the clutch and have it engage a bit more slowly?
I figure it won't affect my pushing the clutch in, but when I launch, when I dump the clutch hard, it will engage the clutch a little more slowly and smoothly. Trying to save my axles. |

don't dump?
what you're describing is possible by the actuation of your left and right foot... http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69812 you can also just get new axles...

Thanks for the info, but I already know those two things.
I was hoping to get an answer to my question. I want to be able to release the clutch quickly and have it engage consistently and smoothly, and I'd like to be able to try and dial that in. I know a lot of cars have something similar in stock form. I would think this would let me launch safely from a stop without shocking my axles. Im exploring options before buying beefy axles. Quote:

Go look around on BMW forums regarding CDV (clutch delay valve). Great idea in theory, in practice not so much.

I installed a needle valve on my Minibusa so I could floor the gas peddle, side step the clutch, and it wold take a half a second to bleed down giving me a nice smooth launch. But this would also effect every gear change which may not work for you. I have a sequential gear box with full paddle shift on the Minibusa so once I got rolling I no longer used the clutch.

Thanks! My old BMW 135i had one of those valves.
I'm wondering if there's an adjustable needle valve or something I can install that would let me adjust the speed of the actuation. I don't want to sidestep the clutch, just set my launch control to a certain RPM, then be able to dump the clutch and get a smooth launch without breaking axles. I'm at around 300whp/225torque with big tires (PSS 265's) and I'm spinning them in 1st and 2nd. I know better axles is better, but I don't plan on drag racing that much, if I could install an adjustable valve and launch consistently, then I'd try that first. |

That's exactly what I'm looking for.
Good point about it affecting every gear, I hadn't thought about that. In my head, it might still work, because the settings would be just a little slower than of a full dump. Where did you find the needle valve? Quote:
