Thanks Fenton, Rob wants me to test everything for a month to ensure we have no bugs.

As soon as I receive the ESC tune from Shiv the testing can begin.

Just to let you know I hope you have luck in testing and tuning the system.

I know if I was closer I would take you up On your offer. Not for myself but for everyone else who could utilize the phantom.

I absolutely love my oft and I think the work that shiv does is amazing, but the more tuners who support and tune the phantom the more widely it gets accepted.

Good luck James. And if you are ever in San Diego I have a dyno you can use.

OFT, eh? I gotta one of then right here ready to go. How much more of a pain is it to tune with OFT? Sorry if off-topic. Can move to pm

I'm more than happy to tune it for you locally on oft. Not for free though. The whole point of doing a freebie is to play with custom maps and see what can be done on ecutek with it wired into the ecu, and to develop maps for the community .

And to answer your question, I've found oft to be fine for local NA tunes. It takes a lot longer (and thus costs a bit more) just due to the limitations/quirks of the software (I use romraider) and flashing/transfer time but it's perfectly workable. The only thing I won't do is forced induction, but once a few more features are implemented (and I'm sure they will be eventually) I'll do those as well. I'll always prefer the power and flexibility of ecutek, but at the same time I try to accommodate every customer, and some already have oft that they'd rather use. New customers generally go for ecutek just because it ends up being cheaper and is future-proof.

Oic. You mean ecutek gives you the ability to switch maps on the fly via an input such as wot switch or cruise control tree? Yeah I can see how that would be cool. I'm torn between esc and supercharge.

Hmm I think our OFT maps for forced induction (phantom and Vortech) work quite well. Arguably better than other tuning platforms that I've experienced first hand. I think it's safe to say that it's the implementation that matters, not what tuning product was used.

I agree. I think Fenton even stated that your tune for the phantom is significantly better then what he was running before.

I can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeve for our cars shiv.

Not trying to start (another) war here, the guy asked a question so I gave my answer. I don't do FI on it because there's no sd, boost control or fuel cut. I'd probably do a supercharger (except the jrsc, as the maf is maxed out of the box) on pump gas but no one has asked for it yet. That's all there is to it, nothing personal.

My faith in @shiv@vishnu and his tuning was solidified by how great the E85/Stg2 UEL OTS map is. While I can see why ultra high boost applications might REALLY require the boost control/fuel cut, I would think for something running relatively low boost like the Phantom should be no problem there.

It's not like I'm gonna blow-off to atmosphere and go pig rich on the Phantom ... At least not with where we're at now. I do like the ECU input for map "switching" on Ecutek though. I also like the (laptop-free) map switching and quick gauges and logging on OFT.

I bet people would be happy with either solution depending on their needs, but I've loved my experience with Shiv so far. Seeing disagreements between Shiv and James reminds me of what it would be like to watch Michael Jordan and Larry Bird argue about a game of one-on-one.

Both really great at what they do, providing great service and data for locals and the forums alike.

Can't we all just get along?

Congrats on Wedding.
I'm in Sydney, Australia. I'm looking forward to have a drive of Gums car with the first RHD phantom. I think he is waiting for the tune.

ECU input for map switching is not necessary. The ECU detects boost and switches maps without a discrete input. There are a number of strategies for this, all very simple.
