Yeah :/ not gonna be able to make more than min when I move in with the gf and out of my parents. So guess I'll be stuck with them for a while. Thought about faking my own death but since two loans are parent plus loans my parents would still have to pay lol

Sometimes yes.
I do occasionally miss the practicality of the MS3, and the more comfortable highway ride, still handled great and got reasonable fuel economy.
What I mostly miss is that with that car I had absolutely no warranty issues, it was absolutely solid.
With this car I have had transmission issues, electronics, interior. I am hoping all that is behind me now, but it has been a rocky start for sure.

NO regrets! Waited approx. 3 years and recently picked up my beautiful and rare on the road beauty (where I live) Whiteout MT Monogram! So glad I waited as I wanted as close to the actual GT86 spec as possible in North America.

It was love at first sight the day I picked her up!

Here's to more of the same Toyota!

What happened with the tranny? I know everyone complains about the clunky tranny but what else?

Some sort of QA issue. It started to grind shifting into 5th, 6th pretty much every time around 4-5k miles. Resulted in 3 trips to the dealer, one of those trips was for 2 days for them to replace the whole transmission assembly.

I'm used to clunky transmissions, the MS3 is one of the worst offenders there, so to me the FRS has a good shifting feel (when it works) but having a few weekends ruined by it makes it upsetting.

My only regret is that I would have preferred a Porsche Caymen, but at literally 1/2 the cost for arguably 90% of the performance - my FR-S fits the bill nicely.

The only real regret is having to originally explain to everyone that asks "Nice car, what kind is it?" to which I say "It's a Scion" and they look at me with a blank face for a second, and then say "Is it fast?" and I say "No, but it handles like a dream" yada yada yada...

I've since learned to answer "Nice car, what kind is it?" with "It's a GT-86" and "Is it fast?" with "It is now".

As for the monogram I don't feel bad about not getting that. Recently met a guy who just bought one out the door for 31k (jikes) I got mine for 24k out the door brand new. So I'm okay without nice lights and heated seats lol.

Just feels with somethjng like an Fj I can go anywhere and still not get arrested lol and unless we track these cars there is little we can do without getting the car impounded for unsafe driving lol. Fj is a beast, but the frs puts a smile on my face every time I turn. Just sexy 😉.
You dont need to track it to enjoy this car. Find some windy roads somewhere near you. Its very easy to put this car on edge going the speed limit near me. Thats kind of the whole point of the car.

If your not getting that type of enjoyment out of it, then ya just pick up anything that suits your more practical needs. For sure. I smile just driving to work this things is so fun in a reasonably safe speed.

low hp, high revs, ......slippery tires, with excellent car balance and poise....means pretty much everywhere is fun

Now, does anyone have any regrets from buying their cars?

I've recently gotten interested in off roading and yesterday I tried out a Toyota FJ, which is amazing.

Problem is our cars drop value like Aladdin tied to that rock and thrown into the sea (without a genie to bring is back up). So if I traded it in I would still owe 1000k. The Fj is 31000k with all the off road goodies.

So my payment would go from 300-550 xD. I can afford this, but I got student loans coming in soon which are gonna kill me. So just wanted to get some opinions. Anyone regret getting this car instead of something else?
I love driving, and I have to drive a lot daily. Getting a car that I not only loved, but one that makes driving more fun and enjoyable is worth everything to me - no regrets here.

I can't imagine anyone not feeling the same if they picked up the car for that or a similar reason, and not because they thought it was the new hot shit or something that would get them attention.

Anyway - that being said, I think there are a lot of options for you if you want something to have fun off-roading in. I mean, there are plenty of used Jeeps and other options that I'm sure you could pick up for relatively cheap, and I think would be a better option than purchasing a brand new vehicle if you're just looking for a car to go tear up the mud and dirt with...

Definitely no regrets as far as the car and waiting for a Monogram. I was a bit worried that I might've got something a bit too impractical...but no. I can use it as a 4-seater, it managed to carry the largest package I've ordered, its more fuel efficient than my Impreza by a long shot, its as comfortable as the Impreza is while at the same time being the driver's car I've always demanded by never really got from pretty much every other new car I've driven. Carrying passengers is a slower and cumbersome aspect versus a sedan, but apart from that I actually think this is a more suitable car than my old Impreza was. The inflexibility of my Impreza sedan's seats actually made it less practical for hauling stuff, I had to sideline that car when it came to moving house. If I had the FRS I'd amazingly do a lot better despite being so much smaller. The trunk opening is a too small, but this is easily overcome by using the doors instead.

I don't know if that's a real regret, more like an actual annoyance this car produces simply because of the badge it wears. To most people Scion is a ghost badge, as in it doesn't exist.

No regrets here. Ive gone offroading and would like to do so in the near future. But i cant justify owning more than two cars without a house to put it in. Someday for sure though. But as of right now i dont regret owning this car. Tracking this car without any issues is a great deal of fun. Cant wait to track it again.
