Just got back from the family vacation. Damn I missed my car. However the dealership called me on Wednesday and wanted to know what type of gas I'm using, what type of driver I am, and how the ethanol free worked out. I answer his questions and he said his Toyota rep assured him they are working hard to fix the issue.
So I'm not sure why some keep coming in here and assuming Toyota doesn't care or they aren't interested in fixing it? Seems at least to me that they are very aware of it and are working hard on a fix. I'm no engineer but I can guess that a fix isn't something that happens over night. If it was I'm sure someone else would have figured it out. Just be patient and hang in there. It's a minor annoyance at most. :happy0180: |

I laugh at the people that keep going back.. Hahahaha I laugh at you.. I think you people are not all that smart.. It's like lets go and get a pump that's the same pump and maybe we won't get the noise
BTW 20k miles, SoCal 91 with 10% ethanol and maybe I hear crickets sometimes.. Also countless days at the track and autoX.. Still I laugh at you guys.. Thanks |

The rationale is "Well I'll show them. I paid for a new car and I want a new car". The second part I agree with. However, they can't shit out a fix right now. I told the guy to call me when there was a fix. I let him know after I got mine replaced that my time and I'm sure their time is important. No sense in wasting everyone's time until Toyota comes up with a fix. Now that said if 6 months goes by or something crazy and I hear nothing I will be a little less patient. I understand its a new car and is going to have issues. Everyone that buys a brand new car in its first year should expect the same. Just ask all the Ford Escape owners that bought the 2013 model. I have one of those as well and I hear they have been recalled already for a to of stuff. Patience is key. Acting like an immature child that wants a cooking won't cut it. |

I LOL'd!
I see it a little differently since we have those people to thank for going through the the process. While it may seem pointless, it has to be instrumental in moving toward a resolution. I still can't bring myself to go through that just yet as I have anxiety issues letting any dealership porter or mechanic near my car unless absolutely necessary. |

I did it once just so they had record of my issue and complaint. I understand if people want to take it in to get the official fix and go through the motions. It's the repeated attempts. The one that really got me was the guy who's dealership told him there was no fix and yet he keeps going back and is complaining about having to take time out to do it.

5506 miles in, no crickets, 91 non ethanol as 93 is 10% only here in Nebraska. I strongly believe that gas is culprit of cricket issues people have. Bad gas, ethanol enriched gas, or just cheap gas is the problem in my opinion. But what do I know, I do not have a degree in online car analysis lol.

I ran on my second pump for about 900 miles within no crickets, this morning I noticed them. I have only been using Shell 91 but just drove from San Diego to Monterey and maybe the shells in different areas use different gas? Now I'm at 1k miles since the pump swap and the. Crickets go away every once in a while and come right back

Does the pump need any sort of cooling or does it stay the same temperature throughout? Otherwise that seems kind of ok.

"I've only ever seen E5, might have been E10? once and that was in Tasmania and i'm sure it was 91octane[RON]"
It's clearly marked when it has any ethanol as either E5 or E10 and it's very rare to see that anywhere. This is for Australia. |
