Just installed my Perrin header back setup over the weekend, thought i would share some pics/sound clips for anyone that is thinking of this setup for the FRS/BRZ.

First off, i want to give a big big big thanks to Molly @ Perrin (your awesome) for working with me on this setup and Mladen(you aiight too!! haha) for being a super helpful guy as well! Perrin has some great employees working there, their customer service is outstanding.

The quality of this exhaust is amazing, everything from the welds, fitment(perfect zero install issues) to the exhaust note(omg). I couldnt be happier with the way everything turned out.

This setup shows gains of 3-4whp over the perrin 2.5" header back setup. Perrin should be releasing there dyno #'s soon! Sounds like pure sexy times. No drone at all, no rattles, no rasp, just a nice deep tuned sounding exhaust tone. I can keep a normal conversation @ hwy speeds, it is louder then stock though.

A few other exhausts that i was considering:

GReddy Evo catback 2.75" (stupid loud w/o silencers, drones bad around 3k, not a fan of huge ricer cans either)

Invidia N1 catback 2.36" (loud as well, with some drone, piping is rather small, would have to upgrade when i go FI)

Nameless axle back (price is right, good quality from what ive read but was not a fan of their place ur order then we build it strategy with no guarenteed eta)

Engine Mods are:

Perrin 3" catback
Perrin 2.5" overpipe/downpipe combo
(will upgrade to 3" op/dp once perrin releases it)
Perrin crank pulley
TRD CAI

will post more photos & sound clips when i get home tonight!

Thanks, any feed back is welcome! Positive or negative. Cheers!
How do the N1 and Greddy compare in terms of sound? Is the n1 as loud? And Do the invidia have good quality?

Sounds great! Are you overall happy with how it turned out with the 2 combined? I'm def going with the perrin 3" fill it sounds amazing! But I also want a uel header and idk which would be best performance/sound wise

I am happy. It sounds very unique, especially since there aren't many 86s around, and IMO, it sounds better than the EJ blocks with exhaust.

Ok. The full perrin mixed with the Borla uel. Does it ever start to get a little raspy at higher rpm?

I have the Borla UEL headers, perrin over pipe, perrin 3" front pipe and 3" catback, and I actually think the exhaust sounds WAY better as RPM's climb, I do not love it at low rpm's when the car is "bogged down", but IMHO as rpm climbs the sound gets better and better. My girlfriend even loves the exhaust sound on this car, and she typically hates any exhaust noise. I had a supercharged e46 m3 with headers and full exhaust on it, and she hated riding in that car. But a little 4banger with an exhaust and she loves it...

PERRIN Big 3" Catback

What does bogged down really do/mean? I don't drive manuals due to a surgery I had on my left ankle. So using the clutch starts to hurt lol xD the main reason I LOVE the twins is the paddle shifters! And I plan on getting a down pipe, 3" mid pipe. But idk what the differences are between headerback, catback and the resonated and Nonresonated is. I also plan on maybe getting a FI later on when I get the car. That's why I'm getting the full 3" with uel headers

I installed the 3" Perrin Cat Back Exhaust this weekend. In a word or two... F'n Amazing! Yeah, that's how good it sounds!!!!

I did not want drone or rice can exhaust sound. If you love the low bass tone of a great exhaust on a V8 like I do... this is the exhaust for you! I Love, Love, Love the sound. (No it doesn't make it sound like a V8 but, it has that deep bass resonance without being obnoxiously loud)

This is how the car is supposed to sound.

I thought hard for a week about purchasing as it would consume 1/2 of my limited mod budget.

Final Thoughts on Cat Back Exhaust 3.0" for FR-S / BRZ: It is a must have, and should be at the top of your list of mods!

I have absolutely no affiliation with Perrin other than being a satisfied customer.

I'm sorry, @solidONE - @PERRIN_Mladen is out of the country for several weeks!

Yes, all the exhaust components are 16AWG 304 stainless steel.

Hey man,

Are you still running Borla UEL + 3" Perrin CBE? Going to be running a very similar setup, do you have any idle and Rev videos? Wouls really appreciate your thoughts on the noise and whether is DD appropriate.

Thanks!
