2016 BRZ Rear view camera

I'm really confused about this. Some websites are saying that the 2016 BRZ Sport-tech has the back up camera, but I cannot find a single piece of information on it on the Subaru main website?

Can anyone confirm whether or not the 2016 model actually has a back up camera?

Thanks. It's confusing when the Subaru website doesn't list the BRZ under the models with the camera.

Good to know it does have it though.

Actually, if I recall, all FR-Ses and BRZs within the U.S. had backup cameras because of a federal law.

Since OP is in Canadia, I'm not sure if the twins still do come with one. I don't see why they wouldn't, though.

He's in Canada so the same rules don't apply. Actually the law requiring rear cameras doesn't take effect until 2018, but it wouldn't make sense for Subaru to delay given how heavily they market safety.

Actually, it looks like the Canadian model doesn't come with a rear camera, but still has navigation unlike the US. Verify with a dealer.

@Tcoat, do you know if the 2016 BRZ comes with a rear camera? If not, does it have a Canadian equivalent?

I just emailed my salesperson, she said it doesn't come with a RVC.

Pretty bummed out about that.

I'm in the US and my '16 FRS came with a rear camera, but doesn't have the guidance lines which is pretty dumb and prefer not to buy another aftermarket camera.

My 2016 BRZ has a rear view camera and has guidance lines. I've noticed that sometimes they don't immediately show up on the display though.

I think you can turn the guidance lines on through options in the HU. though, to be honest, does anyone really follow the guidance lines? I think most people use the rear camera to judge how close objects are

This. Installed an aftermarket one and actually like that it doesn't have lines. I only use it close to the end of the reversing process, just to gauge how close I am to something behind me. Its my first car with a camera and, now that I'm used to it, I'm fine with not having reversing sensors (something I grew used to instead over the fast few years), but the camera was certainly weird at first.

Perhaps place an empty cardboard box in the drive way and practice some reversing to get a feel for how close you get without hitting it? In the long run you won't need the lines.

Judging distance is part of what the lines are for. I haven't tried to turn them on or off. Sometimes they just aren't there initially when the camera is activated and then they appear on the screen. I've actually found the camera to be more useful than I thought it would be. Glad it's a feature.

The lines are really useful once you get use to it, I use it on my previous car daily, and it was great.

I think it would defeat the purpose of a rear camera if it didn't have a guidance. If you need to see how close, theres other technology like sensor on the rear of the car that beeps the closer you get to a object/wall/etc.

Now, I don't know why the FRS doesn't have the option to turn it on in the stock HU either.

Just my 2cents
