Gauges
I wanted to add some additional gauges and this is what I came up with. I removed the little storage compartment and USB port. The USB port will be relocated elsewhere if needed. I got three 2 1/16th auto meter digital gauges, oil temp, tranny temp.and boost, and made a mounting plate out of aluminum for them. If the angle is just right the gauges fit the hole with out any cutting.

I got the gauges wired up today. Now the hard part. I have no idea where to tap into the engine oil and tranny for the sending units. Anyone have any ideas?

This is the 1st aluminum plate I made. You can see where I sanded out the bottom to fit the contour of the console and shifter bezel.
I then made a new plate 1/4 inch higher to give me enough height to bend the top tab over. |

go to Autometer's site and you'll see a section on installations, one of which is a BRZ; there you'll see where they hooked up the oil temp gauge sender close to the oil filter

So it looks like dropping the transmission pan and welding in a bung is my best option. Anyone ever dropped the pan on an automatic?

I have not dropped a pan on one of these, but if it looks good to you, you might try going into one of the lines that goes to-fro the radiator tank. Autometer shows a setup for the water temp going into a heater hose that might be useful to you here.

Back in '81 I had a street rod with a Turbo 400 with both a temp gauge and a line pressure gauge--but I'm sure that car lots more room to work in.
