Question on offset

So my car is an hour away in storage and don't have time to go look at it. The wheels I want to get are a +20 offset. The stock offset on the stock wheels is +48. So, 48 - 20 = 28. 28mm difference. 28mm = 1.1 inches. So the wheel will be sticking out 1.1 inches more than stock. My question is, will the wheel be sticking outside the body of the car? because I'm not sure how I feel about that. If I could get to my car I would just measure it but I can't.

Thank you.

Offset needs to be considered in context of wheel width.

A number you should memorize is 41. That is the number of mm the face of the wheel is from the backpad, aka how much off the brake rotor surface your stock wheels sit.

To figure out how much a wheel will stick out, you'd need to know only wheel width and wheel offset. So a +20 on a, say, 8.5" wheel will be (8.5/2*25.4) - 20 = 87.95mm out from rotor surface, which means it will be 87.95-41 = 46.95mm (1.85") farther out than your stock wheels.
