Best way to remove all this?
While I was away on vacation, my landlord had the detached garage re-roofed. I came home to this on my car
:First, pictures, since they illustrate a thousand words: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Those morons managed to get as much crap as humanly possible through the sheathing and onto everything below the roof, namely my car. It's a mixture of rough sand and loose hardened tar with sawdust, wood chips and a few nails. Getting it off isn't a problem; doing so without fucking up my paint is. The options I have in my head right now are: 1) Copious amounts of water flow to carry the debris away without scratching the paint. Proceed to the detailer to buff out scratches. 2) Shop vac situated 1" above the surface of the paint to "lift" off the debris without rubbing it in. I did a little test area with this method and it seems to move the shit around a bit before lift it off because of the airflow. Proceed to touchless wash, then the detailer. What do the paint nazis think? It's not a problem of money; If (I can't imagine it is) it's an issue for an auto detailer to come in and clean, then the roofing company and my landlord will be paying for it.

I wouldn't run water over it because as the water dries, it's probably going to create an even stickier mess. Maybe vacuum some of it out of places like the windshield cowl area then bring it to the detailer. Just leave it on there and let the detailer pressure wash it off and then use a product like Tar-X to break down the stuck on tar so scratches aren't created trying to rub it off.

Ask the landlord to pay the detailing bill. Demand it. You don't pay rent to have them consume your personal time.

I'd go leaf blower then clean it up with a shop vac. Hit the remnants with water and then claybar

Looks like I'll be shop-vaccuuming this sucker for the worst of it and bringing it to the detailer. Thanks all.

If she paid for a detailer, take it to a detailer. The roofing guys should be partially at fault for not covering up the work area or cleaning up after making a mess.

I would not do anything to it. Just let your chosen trusted detailing outfit take care of it all. Since it is all being paid for. Are the roofers are going to be reprimanded for their negligence?

You need to wait till the sun sets! pull the car our and foam the car down. Let it sit for a good 5 minutes, then pressure spray!
Then working from the top down, WIPE IN ONE DIRECTION with a microfiber towel or wash mit, to pick up stuck on dirt and debris. Do this until the car is clean
