Something running while car is off.

Yesterday, after 6-7 hours I shut my car off, Someting start to run in the back of the car. My brother came in and said, "are you on bags"?. When I came in, it was running like a compressor in the fuel tank. It started while the car was off for 6-7 hours...

Is that normal that it runs while the car is off?
