Car swaying left right (floating feeling) highway speeds
Lately I noticed on highway speeds 60-65mph (higher if i'm following the flow of traffic in the fast lane) my fr-s feels as if it slightly swaying side to side almost as if the wind was blowing it really hard making it feel as if the car is floating
tires are inflating up to spec of 35psi...alignment was done earlier this year...car is fully stock mechanically speaking. 2015 w/ just under 25K miles any ideas? probably need to get another alignment? Last edited by FX86; 10-04-2016 at 01:18 PM. |

That sounds like an alignment issue to me. If it was an older car I would suggest checking your bearings, because a worn/failing bearing would cause the same thing to occur (for the same reason, as it basically allows the hub to move around causing your alignment to constantly change.) I wouldn't bother chasing down other issues until confirming that the alignment is correct. It's possible you don't remember hitting a bump, but maybe you did hit something that threw the alignment off, or slightly bent a tie rod or something. Sounds like a classic case of poor alignment.

+1 for alignment. I had my rear toe adjustment knocked out on one side and it felt like I was driving on ice.

Sounds like an alignment. If you've put on a lot of miles since this issue began take a look at your tread wear in the meantime to see if it's uneven on an edge, or if it's cupping/feathering.

i had a F150 rental for a month then when i got my fr-s back the steering felt stiff in a good way and it handled like it was on rails (had my fr-s back now for almost a month so i didn't put a lot of miles on it...handling was fine when i dropped it off at the body shop)...started noticing last week the swaying and the steering started to feel loose but i'm thinking my muscles got used to the tighter steering of the fr-s again versus the lightweight steering of a F150 i'll check out the tire tread too and make sure everything looks proper |

Could be tramlining as well. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=47
I experience it on specific sections of the highway I commute. Usually sections with those parallel grooves vs flat asphalt.
